I met them at Edgware at around 01:30 this morning for a food/drink supply stop.

They had to re-route around the Baker Street area due to the Circle line platforms being closed due to flooding and thus couldn't connect to the deep level lines that they had been intending.

An OSI had to be used to get around this, thus no official caterogy C record.

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

i was going to go and meet them but after spotting they'd gone off route I figured it was a hopeless task without info from them, and they didn't reply to a text.

I asked GU about this at the R15. As I understand it, Guinness used to recognise several categories of records:
A: the usual GWR FNC rules
B: allowed to use private transport
C: not leaving the network

I don't know if there were any others.

I thought the usual rules were category B?

Cat A) and cat B) were real, cat C) only exists really as something I have now thrown out there and only made possible by night tube..
I will attempt a cat C) again though...

Sorry Iain never received your text assuming sent to me...

Anyway.........

Slow Picc at the start late out of Acton Town had to re-plan NW corner....
We re-jigged a few things and reckoned to be around 30 mins down which slipped to 45 mins which we were maintaining until trying to get on the Bakerloo line at Baker Street....
Having changed there to get the H & C down to Hammersmith and back the Barking service terminated at Edgware Road, the driver announced another Barking was waiting on the adjacent platform - doors closed before ours opened..
A long wait at Edgware Road and then another Barking rolls in but at Baker Street the driver announces the eastbound H & C platform is closed due flooding and train stops and when moves again we can see water coming out of wall and quite a lot on the platform and staff sealing the gates.. We are told to alight at GPS and get next train back as Westbound platform not affected..
At GPS a Met comes in even better as this platform is nowhere near the flood and closer to Bakerloo line...
We stop at Baker Street but driver announces the station is "closed" due to flooding and apologises for not being allowed to open doors and we are next stopping at Finchley Road

I now reckon we are over an hour behind nowhere near being able to get on the Bakerloo without leaving the network so I decide to play our "Mulligan" and tick off top part of Jubilee line now rather than night tube and shock horror EXIT the system at Northwick Park to get the Bakerloo line at Kenton...
If we hadn't done this it would have added a crazy amount of time to an already behind schedule challenge..
So finally after leaving the network once myself, David and Richie G finished at Richmond at 0815 in 23 13 04 for Richie's first completion and just enough time for me to freshen up get changed have a comfort break and go to Old Deer parkrun

An amazing experience unlike any other FNC and big thanks to Tangy and Lisa for coming out with much needed supplied so late at night and to Scriv, Roblo and A2 for being with us for large parts of the day :D

Congrats to Richie on his first completion :D

Does anyone fancy another go at this at some point or was it horrendous not being able to leave the network?

I wouldn't mind a go at it at some point, but NOT the same weekend as an R15!

Isn't this a thing with the "club" that certifies records for the New York Subway? Their rules are that you complete on a single fare (single token in the old days) which means you can't leave the network. GWR rules do allow you to leave the network.

I'd provide a link to Wikipedia, but I don't want to provoke dstock17.
