Forum Day Out - Severn Valley Railway Saturday 23rd June 2018

Post by xcooler123 »

Hi All,

Whilst attempting the WMT Day with tufnellpark and A2, we spent a brief period of time in Kidderminster. An idea was formulated that we should do a Forum Day Out that was a bit different from the usual London-based activities. Therefore:-

Event - Severn Valley Railway
Date - Saturday 23rd June 2018

Personally, I have never been to the Severn Valley Railway (a bit shameful as I'm Shropshire-born!) and have been meaning to go for some time. I'm sure some of you are the same.

The cost of the day there would be £19.50 + £1.75 booking fee (if you book in advance) for a "Freedom of the Line" ticket, meaning you can travel between any stations on the line all day.

For those travelling from London way, the best way of doing it is to try and get Chiltern's brilliant £5.50 Advance singles between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street (look on their website for them). Then, buy a return between Moor Street and Kidderminster. Total Cost = £18.80.

If there is interest, we can sort out exact timings of the day closer to the time. For more info on the SVR, see the link here. Hope to see some of you there!

Not really my area of interest, so while the company would be great, it's not an activity I want to spend £40+ on. Sorry.
