Zone 1 Challenge Cup 2017- Friday 2nd June

Post by tangy »

Welcome to the launch of the Zone 1 Challenge Cup for 2017. Friday 2nd June 2017, 12:00 noon, Liverpool Street Station.

I am your host, the BOZO (Boss Of Zone One) and I formally invite you to the Zone 1 Challenge for 2017.

The aim is simple: visit all 64 stations on the London Underground system that are within Oyster card Zone 1 in the fastest time. You will be competition with other teams (and the trains themselves) for the coveted Zone One Challenge Cup.

Full details of the event (including meet up location, timetable of the day, rules of the challenge and after event quiz) can be found on the dedicated website at www.explorerticket.co.uk/tubechallenge/zone1cup.htm

Even though this is an open invitation event, it would greatly assist me if you notify me of your attendance at the event (even if you are at this stage a maybe). Contact details are on the website (see link above).

Let the madness begin...

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

Unfortunately, prior commitments this year prevent me from being able to make my annual appearance... :( :( :(

Sorry about that, and have a great day everyone! :) :) :)

Gosh not many posts on this topic and only 3 days away

Anyway I will have a spot prize question again this year...

Also should this thread not be moved to the separate Zone 1 day section?

I haven't had many responses via PM or email either to say if challengers are attending or not, which is concerning.

Anyway, the Zone 1 Challenge Cup is still going ahead as planned on Friday (2nd June 2017). as i say, this is an open invitation event but I encourage challengers to send me an acknowledgement that they are attending prior to the event.

I'm coming. Need to do some more 'research' over the next couple of days though as my last few attempts at Zone 1 didn't go too well :-(

I have 5 times on the Z1 leaderboard. The best of them was set on my first ever tube challenge, so my attempts have been poor too.

I'm aiming for a PB this year.

In my case, although I've got a sub-2 hour time for the Bottle, my Zone 1 times (borrowing from the Bottle route) have been around the 3 1/2 hour mark!

I don't know why I bother planning routes, each time I think I have a winner I get slower!
