Tubeguru gets a new job

Post by tubeguru »

Over the past six months I have been going through the various stages of applying for a new job. My initial application was made in March.

I am pleased to announce that this morning I was called by First Great Western and offered a position on their trainee train driver course starting in October.

Wheee!

Hi Neil, congratulations on the new job.

Do you know what kind of trains you will be driving, and/or the services (ie intercity or not)?

Best of luck with it :)

Well done Neil. As a frequent passenger on Great Western (eg from London to Bath), you may well see me out and about there! Funnily enough, I never seem to have any problems on that line; it always seems to work to time.

Cheers everyone.

I start on the 1st of October at Paddington. I'll let you know how it's going as I work my way through it all.

Congratulations Neil - hope it is as fulfilling as you imagine.

I may well be heading out that way myself every now and then on business, so will hold you personally responsible for each and every delay!

So then it'll be your fault for not being around when it all goes wrong :)

Am I going to get loads of abuse about how shit FGW's service is now? ;)

I'm sure I'll discover lots of reasons why it's not actually that bad once I start you know ...

Congrats on the job Neil. I'm sure you'll find out lots of things about the "Wrong type of leaves" and the "Wrong sort of rain". Before too long you will be an accomplished spin doctor for FGW.
One day I shall return!
