As much as I love Terry Wogan, you don't miss Roger Waters when he comes to town :)

If anyone feels stupidly confident about the UK's chances, I'll wager £5 they come in the bottom five. Payable next Friday.

UK will be in the bottom 5 along with France, Germany & Spain + pick one from Sweden or Ireland.

Top 5 will be
1. Serbia
2. Slovenia
3. Latvia
4. Russia
5. Anyone else you like ending in ia :D

note to Gordon Brown, change the UK's name to "The Former Blairist State of New Labouria" that will make us more appealing in the ESC.
One day I shall return!

So, no takers... I'm not surprised.

Ping Pon, if you read this is time, I'm willing to sponsor votes amounting to £5, to be reimbursed Friday! Please, give the Ark a few extra votes!

Good set of predictions soupie. Any chance of the Lottery Numbers for next week? Shame there are not EBU TV stations in Jersey, Guernsey and Gibraltar so we can set a UK block vote.

Well predicted Soupie I could never have called that one.....

I quite Liked Macedonia and particulary the Russian entry :D
Ukraine was hilarious as well......

My overall impressions were that Finland hosted the competition very well, I thought the backround graphics were especially good....

There appeared to be lots of contestants in ridiculous hats....

Also several very nice entrants being dark long haired beauties.... :D

Is anyone going to purchase the official CD or DVD they have released this year :?:

The tele-voting makes the predictions quite easy really.

Apart from Slovenia & Latvia I was nearly spot on with the top 5.
Both these countries did a lot better in the Semi-final but had been favoured by having a good draw.

Bottom 5 spot on with the exception of Lithuania which was an exceptionally dull song. This might have finished below the UK but for a neighbourly 10 votes from Latvia, and 12 points from the 45,000 Lithuanian immigrants in Ireland :D

I think more so than ever before the 2007 contest will prove that tele-voting needs to go. I won't argue the case for the UK because I never though we would do well, however, does anyone truely believe that Sweden was the 18th worst song. :?:

At least we did'nt let Hakan down as UK gave the Swedes 7 points

I'd like to think the reason Ireland did badly was because she couldn't sing and the song was shit.

God knows what our excuse was ...

Yes I have to agree Neil, one of the worst Irish entries I can recall...

The girl had no vocal range and seemed to be struggling to sing above the backing group who were drowning her out...... I imagine you would hear better than that in a Dublin bar on a Friday night.....

I couldn't agree more... However, not that it's up to me to decide, but what about the following setup for Tele voting?

In each country a large number of televoting vouchers are randomly issued. Each voucher has a unique code that entitles you to 1 vote. If you exercise your vote you get a, let´s say €1 refund on your phone bill, but you are also supposed to follow some ground rules (not that they can be inforced) to increase the chance of serious voting:
* You should try to pick the BEST SONG...
* You should try to ignore the origin...
* If you're not interested, please pass the voucher to someone that is!
etc

With such a set of rules, a fairly random cross section of each country would vote, and not just immigrants with a sentiment for an eligeble entry. E.g. most people in Sweden (that had an admittedly reasonably good song) had no interest in voting at anyone else - at least not to pay for doing so, UNLESS of course you were of (e.g.) Finnish descent (the largest immigrant group in Sweden). However, for even a €1 encouragement, I would have tried to cast a fair vote based on the performance - if not, I'd certainly be happy to donate the vote to someone who would.

What do you say?
