New Year...New Quiz (Mystery Station Quiz, Part 2)

Post by Garion »

Hey. Just thought I'd give you another quiz. Good luck.

1) Which station on the Piccadilly Line opened last year after being closed for more than a year?
2) What is the name of the tube station in the BBC soap 'Eastenders'?
3) Name the station connected to Monument?
4) What is the only station to be served only by Metropolitan Trains?
5) What station is served by Piccadilly Line trains early mornings and late evenings?
6) What station has a loop that allows drivers to turn round and start another service?
7) What is the current name of the station that was originaly called 'Tottenham Court Road'?
8) What station is exit only on Sundays?
9) From what station underground, can you see both ends of the tunnel while standing on the platform?
10) What was the last station to open on the Jubilee Line Extension?

The answers will be posted here in a few weeks. PM me with the answers.

Can you explain what you mean by question 4? The way it is phrased at the moment I can think of at least 11 stations that are only served by Met trains.

All but one station is served by more than one type of service. For example, Rayners Lane is served by Met & Piccadilly, Finchley Road is served by Met & Jubilee and Baker Street is served by many. Just look on the map and take a guess.

Here is Q4 rephrased:

What is the only station on the Metropolitan Line to be served ONLY by Met trains (no other services or lines)?

Are you under the impression Chiltern Railways run a bakerloo style service, stopping at every metropolitan station to Amersham?

Even if he does think that, there are at least 4 more stations that aren't served by any other service. Forget the 'secretness', going to name them -- Chesham, Watford, Croxley, West Harrow.

Apologies if I'm wrong, that will be embarrassing...

Here is a map that Ive quickly knocked up showing all the places of the Metropolitan line where it meets other rail services.

http://jonnylyon.net/met%20interchanges.GIF

I used the PDF from the TfL website for a starter

http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/downloads/pd ... olitan.pdf

It shows that there are 11 stations where there are no other rail services.

What station did your video say was the only station?

Sam's right. That question looks invalid. Any chance of the answer? Feel free to add a replacement of course...

Ok you've twisted my arm. The answer is West Harrow. I've already had an entry and that person answered correctly so some people know what I was talking about :)

i have an idea maybe by "only one type of service" it meant including all the different services within the met line, i.e. only served by trains from uxbridge to aldgate? cos that would be vaguely correct

The problem here is the use of the word "served"

This would indicate that trains stop at stations "served" by tcertain trains. I think the phrase you were looking for was "passes through the tracks in the station", as quite clearly nothing other than a Met train stops at Preston Road, Pinner and Chesham to name just three stations on the Met.

So you quite clearly don't know what you're talking about.
