Surely King's Cross St Pancras is an acceptable answer for this question?!5. What station on the Hammersmith & City line was destroyed by a fire? WHITE CITY
According to something I read (probably by Christian Wolmar or someone), the station was actually closed due to the single platform KWS terminus not being able to accomodate enough trains per hour -- although steep gradients, etc. were a secondary problem. I may of course be wrong...28. Why was this station closed? STEEP GRADIENTS UPTO THE STATION AND TIGHT CURVES. THE TRAINS WERE NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH

Technically the station was not destroyed - otherwise the entire thing would have burned down. It was just the bit near where the fire was that was ruined.jonny wrote:Surely King's Cross St Pancras is an acceptable answer for this question?!5. OK lol, but if you can succeed in burning down a deep level station then I take my hat off to you...tubeguru wrote:Technically the station was not destroyed - otherwise the entire thing would have burned down.
