Italy have now 4 times winners of the world cup, one behind Brazil.

Although Italy won by a headbutt!

My family usually do a "League Ladders" tournament at the beginning of every Premiership season, the idea being that you predict the finishing positions of the 20 teams for a small fee, and then prizes are awarded at the end of the season. The one downside to this is that it leaves a massive gap in the middle with nothing exciting going on, but perhaps we could do this.

Another thing - Neil has quietly been making interest off all the money we paid at the start of the tournament until he had to pay it out again!

I demand my 0.5 pence back! (Assuming 0.1% interest for 1/12th of a year, on the £6 I paid)

It's too long a period. Chelsea will win anyway. Sorry Ollie.

Never fear Ollie as Fantasy Footie will be coming soon and that will give us entertainment for a whole season for a small fee of around £15.00...
Pretty good value for 9 months fun

Watch this space, or indeed a new one :D

Yeah, but who will come second?
It's not a sweepstake - it's about predicting where EVERY team will finish. I take your point about it being too long, you don't have to apologise!

Kevin: £15 for nine months? Say ten people enter, you could put it all into a high interest account and earn an extra fiver on that... which you will be obliged to put into the prize pot!

Are but Ollie, there will be regular fortnightly updates (including optional fortnightly prize fund entry fee of £10.00) and I am expecting more than 10 people as I normally have at least 20 to 30 taking part of the last few seasons.....It is a quite an undertaking to co-ordinate and manage so if I did make a few extra quid interest this would only cover my admin fees :D

I don't run this for my benefit, it's often quite a hassle chasing everyone for payments and team details and in any case the money is kept safely stuffed in my mattress until May 2007

I will put a new Topic up in a couple of weeks when full details are known for the 2006/07 season......

This is something I have been running very successfully and fairly every season since 1999-2000...just ask Soup Dragon, Dr Who and Ping Pon

The full prize funds and returns depends on the number of particpants and is confirmed once all entries are recieved.....

You just have to trust me, come on I have an honest face :D

Interest?! On that piffling amount at MY bank?!

I would view the interest as an "admin" charge :-)

In this case, it's going to be about 3p so you're welcome to splt it between 18 of you if you wish.

Nah, I reckon it should be split between the winners in the same proportions as the prize fund :P

Anyone got any ideas for an upcoming-season-based football thingy then?
