I was referring to the days when GUARDS* on 1938 STOCK* could open the doors before trains had actually come to a halt in the platform and, at somewhere like Warwick Avenue, if you were positioned well you could sprint through the arch and hit the bottom of the up escalator before the train had properly stopped

I appreciate that terms like GUARDS* and 1938 STOCK* may be confusing for younger readers :-)

Extremely extremely extremely rare. I managed it once during the 1980s or early 1990s. There had been an explosion at one of the London BR termini which resulted in all London BR termini (and associated tube stations) being closed during the morning rush hour. Coincidentally Edgware Road (Bakerloo) was closed at the time while the lifts were being replace/repaired.
