Thanks for that - I can assure you it was completely impromptu! I didn't even know Rob had brought the lyrics along until we were halfway through the challenge.

By the way, I couldn't remember Jay Foreman's name on Friday, but I gather that some people hadn't heard his "Every Tube Station Song", so here it is for comparison:

And I need to print out another copy of these lyrics now - my next performance of the 'Underground Can-Can' is due next Thursday evening 11th June, at the Willersley Castle Hotel, Cromford, Derbyshire...

Thank you! It happened, and judging by the applause, the small audience of about 30 folk really appreciated it!

Excellent! Though I can't help wondering what the good folk of Derbyshire must make of all those weird names like Acton Town and Willesden Green...

I may be recording it soon - the place where my community choir rehearses also has a recording studio, and the leader of the choir is quite keen for me to record some stuff there. Could become a minor hit!

This 'minor hit' has just had another outing - at part of a soirée I performed yesterday at a retirement housing complex in Guildford. The small audience of 20 or so really enjoyed it!

Oh brilliant! I haven't got round to recording it yet - maybe I'll nudge the choir leader again. 513 views on YouTube!

Just to say that I'm giving a performance of a cut-down version of this at an open mic event tonight - just the Metropolitan, Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines since I thought the audience might get bored otherwise! I'm combining it with another couple of railway-themed songs, "Chattanooga Choo-Choo" (to which I've rewritten the lyrics so that it's about a journey from London to Inverness) and "Slow Train" by Flanders and Swann. Hope it goes well.

Didn't go too badly. Small audience - one of them said it was the nuttiest song he'd heard me perform so far!

If you're a fan of these silly "list" songs here's another one I wrote including all the counties of England. I'm performing it tomorrow at a much bigger event - a bit nervous!

I can't see it going down badly anywhere, to be honest - having seen it performed at last year's Zone 1! Except for a Jeremy Clarkson convention, I guess.

Speaking of last year's performance, I gather there won't be a similar performance this year?
