Walk London

Post by Rhys1995 »

Does anyone know of any projects that have involved walks between two stations and them taking loads of photos?

I've come up with a new idea for a little project I may undertake, seeing London where I'm not underground, shock! And the idea is to walk between two parts of London and taking photos along the way, some you can understand and some are little gems. Some ideas of walks...

Old City to the New City - Bank to Canary Wharf
Barkingside to Barking
The Acton Circle - North Acton - East - South - Acton Main Line - West and back to North
N17 2 N5 - Walk from White Hart Lane to the Emirates

Just some ideas.

I guess you can do whatever routes are of interest. I certainly fancy seeing more of the outside of stations; there's some nice architecture out there

Agreed. London's really quite a pretty place when viewed overground. I should know. I just wish I'd taken more pictures...

I might do some trial runs and see how they go, and see how long I can survive without succumbing to the tube

Old City to the New City - Bank to Canary Wharf
There are lots of good and historic pubs along the Bank to Canary Wharf route, provided you go the right way. Any walk between connecting stations in the Docklands provides a fascinating look at the vast shipping history of our fair city, with lots of evidence still out there, if you know where to look. A walk through London after midnight is also very interesting.

Well, perhaps a brigade of Geoff haters will be smashing up the points at Chalfont in the very early morning.

I tell you what would be funny. If he missed the last T4 train. At that speed, it could be doable :)

I did the the 2005 Circle Line Walk, for charity. It took us all night to walk from the Guild Hall to er, the Guild Hall via the 17-mile route.
