Rail Replacement Buses

Do any of you know if there's any kind of industry-wide protocol for when First Class accommodation is unavailable owing to the use of a RRB, or thanks to the rolling stock being used? Is there any kind of refund available?

Seems like my journey down next Saturday is going to be a mix of bus and Class 321 from Witham onwards... yay!

I bloody well hope it does! I'm not looking forward to being stuck on a coach full of drunk Essex-types on the journey home.

Taken from the national rail conditions of carriage, section G, part 38.

"38. Travelling in standard class accommodation with a first class ticket
If you have a first class ticket (or the equivalent) and the first class accommodation (or the equivalent) shown in the National Rail Timetable is not available in any train you travel in, you may claim a refund of the difference in price between the first class and the standard class ticket for the relevant part of your journey."

Not sure how this applies to you, if First Class is available for PART of your journey, best advice would be, pick up a Greater Anglia comments form and stick it in, if you don't ask, you don't get

I reckon the interesting bit will be the Billericay - London (and vice versa) legs of each journey, where there'll be about 10 First Class seats available as opposed to the usual three coaches worth!
