Tubeguru gets a new depot (and house)

Got anything to say that's not about the Tube? Say it here!

Well, we're now stuck with working between Newton Abbot and Penzance. An interesting thing is that the Paignton branch is cut off from Exeter, and it's usually Exeter drivers who do those trains. So they'll be getting us to run Newton Abbot to Paignton shuttles. Sleepers are cancelled, but Par to Newquay is running.

The question of just HOW much of a service we can run is determined by how many trains we physically had this side of Dawlish before it was closed. I know we have two HSTs, but no idea about units.

Just taken a look at Dawlish on the BBC News website. It looks pretty awful down there; my thoughts are with everyone affected. I know we get flooding in my neck of the woods, but nothing like this.

I hope the line can be restored to its former glory - it's such a beautiful stretch of track.

They'll have to re-build it - it's too important a route to simply close it.

Time to re-open the old L&SWR route via Okehampton ...

They're already planning on extending from Bere Alston to Tavistock, and from there it's only a few more miles to the promised land of Okehampton ...
