Re: 150 Years of the Underground
Further to this, I did this Watford Junction- Watford Met transfer on Saturday (to bash the Ricky North Curve) and I timed it from ticket barrier- ticket barrier of 16 minutes (at my fast walking pace).tangy wrote:Indeed I have done this transfer from Watford Met- Junction. At the time I was coming back from a tube challenge (in teh evening). It only took 15-20 minutes to do it and I wasn't doing it full pelt either (just a light run).
40 minutes Myles?! What way do you go?!

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

Might have exaggerated with 40 minutes, but its a hell of a long way through that park. I'd say 25-30 for me anyway.

Re: 150 Years of the Underground
Anyone still up for this?
I propose an attempt Mid-August rather than January.

Perhaps there's a monster variant- all stations that have EVER been part of the Underground.

Re: 150 Years of the Underground
Wikipedia and Google are saying today is the anniversary, so I couldn't resist dropping by to raise a glass to the underground and everyone whose vision made it happen and grow.
Happy new year everyone - hope all is well in tube-challenge land and that all your delays are minor.
Best,
Ric

Re: 150 Years of the Underground
Today's Google Doodle is a rather clever redrawing of Beck's map.http://www.google.co.uk It's surprisingly close to the real thing, apart from the entirely spurious line (in Victoria blue), forming the second G, which intersects the District at approximately Aldgate East. Full makrs for effort, anyway!
Happy birthday, tube!

Bit of perspective, the same year the Metroplain openned, Lincon made his Gettisburg address.

Re: 150 Years of the Underground
No 150th birthday would be complete without a member of staff being shut on a train and the station supervisor laughing down the radio.

Re: 150 Years of the Underground
Yes, another forum member coming out of the woodwork as I too raise my glass to 150 years of the Underground.
Though it's actually a cup of tea for me at the moment. But it's the thought that counts.
