it's like he read my Hitler comment here, and re-worded it!

"Before long came the complaints, such as Tony Blair saying: “Even if you disagree with someone very strongly, at the moment of their passing you should show some respect.” Presumably then, when Bin Laden was killed, Blair’s statement was: “Although I didn’t agree with Osama’s policies, he was a conviction terrorist, a colourful character whose short films were not only fun but educational as well. He will be sadly missed.”"

I may get shot for saying this, but...

Before Hitler went cuckoo and started invading countries and exterminating people, he pretty much single-handedly rescued the German economy.

If you are using that as a reason why we should all love Maggie, then it's a pretty poor comparison.

Hitler must be regarded as a unique case when comparisons are made, as his policies were all rooted in his hatred of Jews, something which he had adopted long before he came to power.

Less Hitler, who personally rejected economics and economic policy as promoting unworthy materialism, and more the centre left Keynesian policies of Hjalmar Schacht and his former German Democratic Party.

There is no need to make unjust baseless statements just to parade your far right ideals. If you really want to be a politician it is these kinds of statements which will come back to haunt you down the line.

Well I won't be deleting anything from the forum. So in years to come when HT runs for office, you know where to find the embarrassing stuff.

I don't use that as an analogy. It was just to point out a not very well known fact. There's no denying (if you do some research) that the German economy was in a much better state than when he came in, before he did his more well-known despicable deeds. I hate Hitler completely for that.

I disagree. It's a well-known fact, but it is completely overshadowed by his later actions.

If you do some research you will see that your previous statement that attributed the post-Great Depression German economic revival to Hitler "single handedly" is completely false.

Hitler took no interest in economics and the revival was enacted by his centre left Keynesian finance minister Hjalmar Schacht. Just because the revival occurred under Hitler's watch does not mean you can attribute causality and make sweeping statements which misrepresents history. Or maybe you can I suppose all the other politicians do...

Hmm. My mother and other members of my family lived through Hitler's time. Believe me, there is no comparison between the two. One was pure evil, and it wasn't Thatcher, who was by no means perfect. Can we move on please?

I wish we could move on. But this isn't going to start quietening down until after the funeral.
