Family travelcards

Post by Starkey7 »

Hmmm. It appears that getting a family travelcard for one adult and one child (£4 plus 80p) is cheaper than gettting a normal one just for myself (£6)! It appears that the Underground are willing to pay me £1.20 to bring along a child...

Can I go for the first option, and then if stopped, claim that I am travelling with an invisible friend, or a child-shaped piece of luggage, or a pet beetle?

Surely they can't penalise you for buying tickets for TWO people?!

Oh yes they can (if you get caught, that is), as the conditions attached to the Family Travelcard are that the group must be one or two Adults travelling with one to four Children, and you must travel together as a group.

And I suspect that if you were caught, you'd be looking at prosecution for fare evasion rather than a Penalty Fare...

Cheers,

Barry

This reminds me of the absurd kind of prices people are charging for things.

For example:

Wetherspoon's offers a can of Red Bull for £1.55, or a vodka and Red Bull (that's a full can of Red Bull) for £1.69. That means the vodka costs 14p.

Being the "designated" (ie. the ONLY) driver I was forced to pay almost as much as an alcoholic drink, just for the pleasure of not having the alcohol in it!!!
