Warwick Avenue by Duffy
Warwick Avenue joins the list of London Underground stations to be featured in popular music.
Duffy's latest single features a brief shot of the station followed by a very simple video with Duffy crying her heart out in the back of a cab. Overall I rate this song 8/10

Some dodgy rhymes about standing near the track as well, and I have read that she farts about 2 mins 10 into the video. Bit too Radio 2 for me.Soup Dragon wrote: a very simple video with Duffy crying her heart out in the back of a cab. Overall I rate this song 8/10

Has anybody listened to this yet? http://www.amazon.co.uk/District-Line-B ... 16&s=music
I cannot think of any real connection between the American former speed metal guitarist and an entire LU line, but the colours and title seem to indicate something...

Re: Warwick Avenue by Duffy
A while back I started compiling a list of songs that referenced tube stations (partly inspired by a lovely MJ Hibbett ditty about aliens in Debden), but then I had problems opening up permissions for the wiki and lost interest a bit after that:
http://tubechallenge.pbwiki.com/TubeSongs
The thing is, once I added the Underground Masker's opus and did a bit more googling, it turns out that there are four or five songs in existence which are basically long lists of tube stations, so they crowd everything else out a bit...

"This train is for King George the Fifth. So you can't go on it."

To this list, you might add ...
This song was used in the "Metroland" programme that featured Geoff Marshall and friends (plus Bob Robinson & Jack Welsby).FINCHLEY CENTRAL
(Alan Klein / Geoff Stephens)
The New Vaudeville Band - 1966
Finchley Central is two and sixpence
From Golders Green on the Northern Line
And on the platform, by the kiosk
That's where you said you'd be mine
There we made a date
For hours I waited
But I'm blowed, you never showed
At Finchley Central, ten long stations
From Golders Green, change at Camden Town
I thought I'd made you, but I'm afraid you
Really let me down

On that note - does anyone know how the proposed Wiki for the forum is going? I know it's been mentioned a little while back but haven't heard anything sincegasman wrote:A while back I started compiling a list of songs that referenced tube stations (partly inspired by a lovely MJ Hibbett ditty about aliens in Debden), but then I had problems opening up permissions for the wiki and lost interest a bit after that:

What about Marvin Gaye's opus, Sexual Ealing Broadway?
(Song title station name puns are my favourite, hence our planned team name for the Zone 1)

And 'Morden A Woman' by the Bee Gees...
Have opened up the wiki for everyone to edit now - log in with the invite code pbwiki-tubechallenge. The admin stuff is clearly still a bit broken, but it's un-broken enough to use now, at least...

Re: Warwick Avenue by Duffy
Talking of tube-related songs, what I'd really like to do is get back into doing radio, and play a "Bakerloo Line triple-play", consisting of Waterloo, Baker Street and Warwick Avenue.
That'd amuse me, that would.
By the way, hello to anyone who remembers me - I've been out of the loop for bloody ages, but still hope to do an "all 275" at some point. Especially now it's been renamed to "All 269". That almost sounds like there are now 6 less stations involved.

Andi, you seem very excited to see Pete, considering he has only made five posts on the forum since you joined!
Welcome back, Pete. I think I have genuine reason to be excited, seeing as you made plenty of posts when I had just joined, and indeed I met you at the 2006 Zone 1 day. Yet I'm not. Huh.
