I agree Andi, it's about time all these spam accounts were cleared up. Tubeguru seems to have been rather busy driving trains at the moment so we will just have to ignore all the new accounts (I think maybe only one or two genuine ones in the past month).

In the meantime please provide details of your nymphomaniac friend, I could do with her phone number

while there's a fresh topic here i'm reminded that my friend and yours, jack, has been awaiting activation of his account for quite a while. so if you get a minute tubeguru it would be much appreciated!

saying that i'm not sure what username he might be using. possibly sven945

I remember when another forum I used to go on had loads of people signing up. People used to sign up almost every day and nearly every time, put porn or porn links on the forum. The forum is now offline but will be re-opening soon. Hopefully the problem would have stopped but some people just find it fun to do that sort of stuff and laugh at people who 'moan' (in their opinion) about it.

I thought Tubeguru was going to ban certain email addresses? If not, why don't you have some rules when signing up? Such as if you're account hasn't been active for XX days, then... :? I don't know. Only a suggestion.

Hi Guys.

As you correctly say, TubeGuru has been very busy recently and has rightly so had to concentrate his efforts elsewhere.

There is some scheduled forum downtime this holiday season, commencing Thursday 27 December and lasting for a few days (i.e. as long as it takes) to achieve the following:

- Change the server hosting the forum
- Upgrade the forum software
- Clear out the non-legitimate accounts

So be patient and by the new year the forum will be back ready for 2008 (and hopefully working a bit quicker as well).

Chris

Eeeek, but this will mean two helpings of 'Cold Turkey'
1. The Cold Turkey leftovers from Christmas Day
2. Having to go 'Cold Turkey' and survive without the forum for several days.

But I guess it must be done so I will look forward to seeing the new and improved forum in 2008! :)

January 1st: new forum launches.
January 2nd: new forum crashes under the weight of all the 269 challenges attempted since the ELL closed.

If things go to plan - it should all be back up and working inside of 48 hours!

What do you mean by an upgrade of the forum software? Does that include changing the layout etc? Or is it just the technical side of things? :?

There have been a number of upgrades to the forum software over the past few years. Each one when released by the software developers helps to fix bugs or improve the way that the forum works.

The major upgrade about 18 months ago fixed a bug that could potentially allow hackers to change the forum - indeed they did!

There are currently two upgrades availlable, one which is an update, one which is an entirely new release of software. The new release includes authorisation by entering the random weird characters displayed on screen, or by the use of an email containing an activation link.

As for which one we go for - when a decision is made - i'll let you know.

Surfice to say, you guys should not notice any major changes - except, hopefully improved reliability.
