Alteration of posts

What's all this "ze" rubbish, please? I don't take kindly to having my posts altered. One of thé administrators on a board I used to take part in used a filter to change all references to thé Daily Mail to "Der Stürmer" (a wartime Nazi newspaper). It really wasn't very funny and I think some people left over it.

This one may only be a harmless bit of fun but how do we know our posts won't be changed in other more subtle ways?

I've removed the auto correct of the and this to ze, which Tubeguru instigated.

And again - Tubeguru stop it or I will take the whole forum offline.

Wow. What a miserable thread- it was fairly hilarious!

Oh come on, can everyone just LIGHTEN up, this forum is taken far too seriously at times.

It's nice to have a bit of light humour now and again.

Anyway, what was ze point of zis again?

If people want to write ze or zis then fine but I don't like the word censor feature being used for the purpose. Not everyone wants their posts changed in such a way.

I woke this morning to this thread and a seperate private message - if it offends people then it needs to stop. Note I have not banned zee or zis on the forum (although I could see the software to do so). All I've done is stop the being auto changed.

If you are going to alter posts, alter them properly! Look at all the "them"s around the forum.

It was a temporary change that caused a lot of laughter. It's not as if there was any malice or it was rude or inappropriate... I agree if the word filter was changed to something rude or vulgar I wouldn't be happy, but that is a completely different issue.

I'm with moley on this one. I assumed tubeguru was drunk, he's not normally this humorous on a public-facing forum.

Tubeguru doesn't drink so it'd be an achievement for him to be drunk.

I really don't know what to say to any of this. There are a few things I would like to say, but a few people might not like them.

So why wasn't it changed back on Friday night then? I wasn't around for that particular discussion - I just logged in this morning and discovered that my posts were being converted into drivel. I have no idea what prompted the original change.

I'm sorry, but I don't like forums that muck around with people's posts, however innocent the intention. I was a forum administrator for many years and I would never have dreamed of doing such a thing, even in jest.

Well, welcome to the world of fun and frolics where we try not take ourselves too seriously and have a bit of light humour now and again.

Whatever you do, don't look back at past late evening posts or you'd be horrified!!!
