Forum Rankings

Forum rankings state:

Zone 1 - 1 post (go on - you can do it!)
Zone 2 - 50 posts
Zone 3 - 100 posts
Zone 4 - 200 posts
Zone 5 - 400 posts
Zone 6 - 700 posts
All Zones - 1000 posts
The Twilight Zone - 3000 posts

I don't really see the point of forum posting manhood comparisons... (you can tell there's a "but" coming)...

But seeing as you're doing them, can't you make a more achieveable scale - It'll be the year 2017 before anyone can legitimately travel to West Ruislip at this rate :)

Time for a huuuuge bump. I apologise, but I felt it was better than making a new thread.

So... how about including Zones 7, 8 and 9 in the rankings? I might finally be able to travel home :)

Thats an idea but it's upto moley and co if they want to change the rankings. If Zones 7,8 and 9 were added, it would be interesting to see what the new boundaries would be :?

By the way, it's 2008 now and I'm already on 400 posts so I think some of us could get to West Ruislip or even further by or before 2017  Anything is possible...

Kevin is just over halfway to the Twilight Zone, but I think it would be good if he could stop at zones 7, 8 & 9 on the way!

Do people really care about rankings?

If so, what should they be?

Discuss away....

I'll listen to all replies...

Well since there are nine zones, how about the following:

Zone 1 = 1-99
Zone 2 = 100-199
Zone 3 = 200 - 299
Zone 4 = 300 - 399
Zone 5 = 400 - 499
Zone 6 = 500 - 599
Zone 7 = 600 - 699
Zone 8 = 700 - 850
Zone 9 = 851 - 999

All Zones = 1000 +
The Twighlight Zone = (whatever it is now..3000?)

What do you think? Discuss...?

It's probably a good idea for them not to be so exponentially arranged, because I've been posting and posting until I'm blue in the face and I'm still only in zone five.

Well with my arrangement, you would be promoted to Zone 7. Happy? :)
I feel that this way is more of an equal, 'fairer' way of spacing out the boundaries but like I said, its not my decision. I'm just offering ideas.

Call me akward (and trust me I'm only trying to generate discussion here)...

1. Do we need rankings?
2. What do they achieve?
3. Starkey7 - are you soley posting to improve the zone that you fall in to?

I'll make any changes this coming weekend - so keep the discussion going.

Well every forum I've seen has some sort of ranking system. I dont know if it is of any use but its just general things for a forum to have in my opinion. After all, what harm does it do? Its just words in a post.

I guess in a way they give something for a person to aspire to. Some people want to get to the highest level and rankings can keep people 'attached' to a forum for this purpose - as well as getting involved with the forum and activities. It can be viewed as a bit of harmless fun. Like I said, its not doing any harm...is it? :?

Well as most forums have some kind of "ranking" system for no reason whatsoever I decided to use the feature when I first set this place up.

It means nothing and I'm not changing them so you'll all have to think about getting a life ...

In retrospect I think the rankings are actually quite pointless and could encourage some sad people just to post for no other reason other than to try and improve their ranking.
