Dr Who wrote:By the looks of things a Murder had taken place that night, remember there was that pair of boots on the road side but where was the rest of the body?
That was a surreal thing to fall over.

A few pictures from the evening are now available at "World of Soup". The winning teams are pictured with their much coverted "DLR 20" certificates. :)

So we headed off down to Millwall territory (woo hoo)

Jamie (Dr Who) declared that Wapping was a good place to murder someone, and he was probably right.
Yes I wouldn't advise wearing your team colours too often in this area...
During a "South of the Thames" challenge last Sunday evening Soup Dragon was running a few yards ahead of me in his Red 'n' White Arsenal shirt from New X to New X Gate when a shout from a bar was heard as I passed "This ain't Effin North London you C*%!"
Soupie almost made the run in 1 minute for the earlier connection

Didn't Jack The Ripper do some of his best work in this vacinity?

I commented on that when we were wandering through the dark Victorian streets of Wapping...

So, Soup Dragon said it was the 31st of July and you all belived him?

TfL have this on the DLR section of their website and I'm more inclined to believe them, since they run it ...

Actually that link doesn't appear to take you to the article.

If it doesn't work for you, it goes like this:

Docklands Light Railway, Britain's most reliable rail network, turns 20 tomorrow, marking two decades of service supporting the growth and regeneration of London's East End.

DLR Press ReleaseThe first passenger train left Tower Gateway for Island Gardens on August 31, 1987. Today, the DLR is carrying 60 million people a year. Customer satisfaction lies at an extraordinary 96%, and reliability tops all British rail networks at 97%.

According to the BBC the official opening by the Queen was on 31st July 1987. Perhaps services commenced one month later?

BUMP
Well I have it on good authority (from another Tube related forum) that the Queen did do the "Royal Opening" on 31st July 1987. The system was then completed for operations which commenced on 31st August 1987. Therefore being a royalist I reckon we should commemorate the 21st anniversary on 31st July 2008.

I like that idea! Not the royalist part, but the tube challenge part.
