Surely if the Only LU routes' rule has gone, you can use NR. In which case I am going back to the drawing board!

The only LU rule hasn't gone; the original challenge (which people are following) is still LU only, and with a currently known maximum of 127 (Hakan's 132 is incorrect due to the addition of the King's Cross  Moorgate  King's Cross loop, so is actually a 127).

The 157 is a different kettle of fish (TfL railway lines only) that RJSRdg proposed.

Actually, given Hakan's 127 route, I can turn my 157 into a 164 (which is still, I'm certain, not optimal):

Epping  Woodford  Stratford (via Hainault) Romford  Upminster  West Ham  Canning Town  Waterloo  Elephant and Castle  Stockwell  Victoria  Mile End  Holborn  Leicester Square  Charing Cross  Oxford Circus  Tottenham Court Road  Euston  King's Cross St Pancras  Baker Street  Wembley Park  Rayners Lane  Ealing Common  Ealing Broadway  Bond Street  Green Park  Gloucester Road  High Street Kensington  Earl's Court  Gunnersbury  Gospel Oak  Blackhorse Road  Seven Sisters  Hackney Downs  Chingford.
All London buses: 23 hours 25 minutes (with Adham, David, Josh and Tangy)
Holds some alternative challenge records. Not sure which ones.

I only have 126 for my potential route and I can't see where the extra station is coming from...

That's interesting... I just got a 164, but it's different to this! It is... (ill post it in a different post)

No interchanges at Walthamstow Central or Liverpool Street. Seven Sisters fixes the first one, but the only place to go from Liverpool Street is Stratford.

As for the LU only, I shall have a look at tweaking it. Here's Hakan's route (in case the link breaks at some point):

Epping  Woodford  Stratford (via Hainault) Waterloo  Elephant and Castle  Stockwell  Victoria  Mile End  Holborn  Leicester Square  Charing Cross  Oxford Circus  Tottenham Court Road  Euston  King's Cross St Pancras  Baker Street  Wembley Park  Rayners Lane  Ealing Common  Ealing Broadway  Bond Street  Green Park  Gloucester Road  High Street Kensington  Earl's Court  Acton Town  Heathrow T2&3 via Heathrow T4  Heathrow T5
All London buses: 23 hours 25 minutes (with Adham, David, Josh and Tangy)
Holds some alternative challenge records. Not sure which ones.

What do you mean no interchanges? Are they classed as different stations?

Yep, Walthamstow Central LU and Walthamstow Central LO are different. Ditto Liverpool Street LU and Liverpool Street LO/XR/NR.

Probably for the best. The 164-all modes was just a diversion.

We know a 128 is actually possible (see here)! We also know a 131 is not (as no better than 129 was gotten with the ELL in play and even adding T5 brings you to a maximum of 130).
