Start at a station with 4 letters (Oval or Bank) visit a station with 5 letters, then 6 etc.... until you finish with 19 (King's cross st pancras)

High Street Kensington = 20

As are Heathrow Terminals 2&3 and Totteridge & Whetstone (if you count the ampersand as a letter), or 22 if & = "and". Or 19 if & is ignored.

Nice idea though. Have a vague feeling I've seen it mentioned somewhere in here before ....

I think you'd have to go with character count because does "st." count as saint?

I was going to post a link to the thread, except the original post had no replies so there's not much point.

I think this would be fun to do as an event, as we'd all finish in the same place and probably all have the same first move: Bank Angel. So we'd start and finish together but everything inbetween would be a mystery... until we got to the pub.

Ground rules (Disagree with me if you wish!) :

Station name length is determined by how they appear on the standard tube map
Spaces, - , ‘ , don’t count
“&” counts a one letter
One number counts as one letter
“St” counts as two letters

Yep, I'd agree with that. Think the first three stations have to be Bank, Angel, Euston but lots of variations after that.

That would mean that both Totteridge & Whetstone and Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 are 20-letter stations as well, so no fixed finishing point.

Which is fine, but I rather like the idea of having to finish at a given station - in this case, High Street Kensington.

Why would you want to finish at T&W or T23 anyway??

If you're using KXSP as your 19 letter station, then it is probably quicker to finish at T&W than HSK.

I think the only 17-letter station is Kensington Olympia. Could make things interesting

I can think of another 17 letter station

yep, just realised I'd filtered for Zone 1&2 only (and excluded zone any stations that are zones 2&3)

And we might have a 21-letter station next year!
