I don't think you have to cancel the 2020 Z1 yet, surely an Autumn date could yet be a possibility?

Another idea if u want to do a proper random 15 championship from september for example is not to add the points from this season as people would think what's the point. If not at the top. But add the first 3 rounds of next years championship so after round 3 you have a winner of last year championship.

And 3 rounds into a new that way it's all fair at the beginning of september.

The only snag is you can't then make the first round the champion's twist.

So it would have been scorcher and we would all be melting by now

So Tangy what do you reckon, the way that things are opening up again we could just have a delayed Z1 for 2020 later in the year?

My attempt at a zone 1 bike ride was very short lived - didn't even make it to the starting station. Somehow managed to gouge a chunk out of my leg with the pedal, so just had a couple of hours in Charing Cross A&E being stuck back together with steri strips  I'm sure Rob would be proud.

Totally fine, but thanks for the concern. It's the least painful thing I've ever been in A&E for, but also the most messy - impressive amount of blood for a relatively small wound.

I guess that would depend on 4 things:

(1) Obviously, whether non-essential public transport had reopened by then
(2) What social distancing measures LU/TfL may have put in place - restricting passenger numbers on trains could lead to long waits at stations, and any one way systems could have an adverse impact on changes.
(3) Whether we feel confident travelling on a crowded underground (in a crowded city) by then. Personally whilst I'm confident I could travel on my local weekend buses and trains safely, I'm still unsure about London!
(4) There not being a 'second peak' in the autumn/winter

During my lunch break yesterday I thought I'd simulate a zone one, using the tfl's route planner. The only station I can see that's closed that effects routes is Queensway.

So I picked a random starting station that's not been picked before and got TOWER HILL. Interesting.....

Thinking that if that was the scenario I'd assume other team would have gone east to knock out the Aldgate's, but I wanted to be different!

So the route I chose was as follows:
Tower Hill Sloane Square Victoria Vauxhall Waterloo Piccadilly Circus Earl's Court Bayswater Notting Hill Gate Oxford Circus Paddington Moorgate Euston Leicester Square Russell Square Holborn Liverpool Street Aldgate Aldgate East take the first train out of Aldgate East which timetables would be to Whitechapel!

Giving a time of about 3hrs 10mins. Not bad only really long wait I got was 11 mins at Earl's Court. I'm surprised that I could simulate a good-ish time even with the reduced service.

Don't get me wrong, cancelling/delaying the Zone One was the right thing to do.
