Have about two-thirds of my route planned. Will figure out the finish on the fly, depending on what delays there are.

Excited!

I am confident I will not win as I am sat on a train stuck behind another with only New St ticked off and no prospect of getting off this one any time soon. I am less confident that I will actually finish ...

I think I may have broken one record today - 2h22 from start station to second station in a R15!

Saw you at Leamington Spa. I did shout but you didn't hear me.

New route planned - have checked the trains I would have taken and they've run on time so far, now following in real time. Tight doubleback coming up and train running a couple of minutes late

Virtual route just finished, with all times checked:

Code: Select all

Birmingham New Street d. 11.03 (University)
Kings Norton a. 11.18 d. 11.27
Sutton Coldfield a. 12.06 d. 12.11
Birmingham New Street a. 12.33
Birmingham Moor Street d. 12.55
Leamington Spa a. 13.22 d. 13.32 (Claverdon and Bearley)
Stratford-upon-Avon a. 14.09 d. 14.26 (Wythall, Whitlocks End, Spring Road and Birmingham Snow Hill)
Smethwick Galtron Brd a. 15.32 d. 15.59 (delayed by 10 minutes, so missed an earlier doubleback at Dudley Port)
Dudley Port a. 16.05 d. 16.32
Smethwick Galtron Brd a. 16.39 d. 16.42 (Stourbridge Junction)
Blakedown a. 17.06 d. 17.11
Smethwick Galtron Brd a. 17.34 d. 17.43
Tile Hill a. 18.20
Originally I thought head straight to Leamington to do southeast corner, but couldn't get there in time for 11.32 train out. Then thought BHM -> Tile Hill -> Coventry -> Leamington Spa, but that didn't work either. So ended up working backwards from 13.32 departure from Leamington, and working out how much I could do before getting 12.55 from Moor Street.

How are the real runners doing?

Finished!

Someone suggested The Anchor in Digbeth for a pre-curry pint. Anybody else heading there?

Sounds like a reasonable option. Heading back towards the city now.

This was just a convoluted excuse to go for a curry. Tasty curry!

Good virtual effort. You would have finished = 5 at Tile Hill with James and Casey.

My first time out with you guys, and it was fun!

Sadly, I can't make either the R15 next month or the Zone 1 challenge at the end of May, but the R15 in July is quite possible.

There was also talk of making this an annual event. That would be nice, especially as we didn't go up the Chase Line at all this time, or have to deal with the awkwardness of Bordesley or Stourbridge Town. Alternatively, we could choose another major UK city an do an R15 there. Which would probably mean coming back to Birmingham in a few years anyway. Thoughts?
