Birmingham R15

Post by tufnellpark »

Would anyone be interested in doing a West Midlands R15 on Saturday 22nd February 2020?

This would cover 103 rail stations in an area bordered by Lichfield, Rugeley, Wolverhampton, Worcester, Stratford-on-Avon, Leamington Spa and Coventry.....using a Nnetwork Daytripper Plus which can be bought on the day from the station, cost £9.60.
https://www.networkwestmidlands.com/tic ... cket/17039

Start would be Birmingham New Street at 11:00 and duration would be 6-7 hours. There are one way advance fares to/from Birmingham below £10. You would need to leave London around 09:00 and should be back by 21:00.

We will select the 14 stations at random (1st station is BHM) in a live draw on the way up, giving you a chance to plan your route.

You may want to stay up in Birmingham on Saturday night and make a weekend of it. For those of us not in a rush, I will book a Balti curry in Small Heath for 19:00 on Saturday evening, where we will announce the results.

Here I go, being awkward...

Would WM Metro tram stops be in the draw?

What about those of us who may want to come from other parts of the country direct to Birmingham? Such as myself from Southampton and Richard Standing from Reading.

Thanks for asking. We can text the selected stations or maybe post them here on the forum. Everyone will get the list at least 90mins before we start, to allow planning time, wherever they are.

You don't have to bring her along. You can come on your own if you want! :D

I'm interested. Is there a full list of stations - the website isn't very clear. It looks like the ticket is only valid as far as Kidderminster, not Worcester? Is the Redditch line included?

I would agree that Worcester, Bromsgrove and Redditch are excluded.

What luck! I join this forum yesterday and there is a challenge in my home city on a Saturday that I am free!

So yes, count me in. My challenge partner (aka girlfriend) may also be able to make it. And curry afterwards sounds excellent!
