I know ur doing this draw on a train going up? I might be interested in doing a Birmingham Parkrun beforehand then sticking around.

That map is quality. Thanks for doing this David.

R15 starts at New Street under the destination screens on the concourse at 11:00. The station draw will be put on here at 09:30, giving you 90 mins to plan your route. Ticket to buy is Daytripper + which is actually two tickets. Best to buy at New Street on arrival. You may need one or two additional singles (buy on the train) but I will advise when the draw is published.

I just checked National Rail and London-Birmingham singles are still available on Chiltern at £6.40 and Virgin £7.00. If you're coming to Birmingham R15 grab a bargain while you can. Remember we start at 11:00 and you'll need to buy your Daytripper + tickets at New Street, so will need to arrive in Birmingham by 10:45. You have 8 hours to complete and we will meet for a Balti in Small Heath at 19:30. If you head straight home aim for a train departing at 20:00. If you're coming for the Balti, book your return train after 21:00. See you there!

Might it not work out cheaper still for someone to catch the Chiltern service to Leamington, buy their DayTripper plus there, then catch the next train to Birmingham (that doesn't go via Coventry!)

after much consideration I will put my name down for this.

Just a note for Londoners, the last fast Virgin train is 21:10 (there are other London Midland departures after this but they are all slow as they call at virtually every single station)!

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

I think you'll find the last fast Virgin train left nearly 2 months ago!

There is a 2130 West Coast as well arriving into Euston at 2335. Then the last train is the 2214 WMT stopper arriving into Euston at 0040.

For anyone using Chiltern the last train is the 2118 from Moor Street, arriving Marylebone 2348.

Can we also have a clarification on Request Stops please?

This isn't something that comes up on the TFL challenges, but there are several of these along the Stratford-Birmingham line, and also along the Stratford-Leamington line. Rather than forcing a train to stop when it might not be going to can we accept that so long as the train you are on is scheduled to be a request stop then it counts as visiting it? Obviously you cannot visit a request stop on a fast train that wasn't going to be stopping there under any circumstances.

Good question. Stations will count as long as the train is booked to stop there. As you say this mainly affects the Moor Street- Stratford-upon-Avon line. As long as it shows as a request stop in the timetable, it will count even if no one requests the stop. Hope that clarifies.

Thanks. Makes sense and what I think I was expecting.

If anyone finds themselves stuck in Dorridge for any length of time on this challenge the bar in the hotel opposite (The Forest) is very amendable :)
