Zone 1 Challenge Cup 2019

Yes, it's that time of year again...the Zone 1 Challenge Cup this year is Friday 31st May 2019.

The aim is simple: visit all 64 stations on the London Underground system that are within Oyster card Zone 1 in the fastest time. You will be competition with other teams (and the trains themselves) for the coveted Zone One Challenge Cup. All teams will start from the same station at the same time and the start station is not known until 45 minutes before the challenge...

Full details of the event (including meet up location, timetable of the day, rules of the challenge and after event quiz) can be found on the dedicated website at http://www.explorerticket.co.uk/tubecha ... ne1cup.htm

Even though this is an open invitation event, it would greatly assist me if you notify me of your attendance at the event (even if you are at this stage a maybe). Contact details are on the website (see link above) or if you have me on social media, message me.

Hope to see many of you there, be it a first timer or a regular challenger that shows up year after year.

Thanks
Tangy
BOZO (Boss Of Zone One).

I am in Frankfurt as I write this and I have the trophy in my bag. Won’t be able to make the start of the challenge but I’ll be in the pub afterwards with the trophy!

Good luck to all taking part!!

Fix the organiser won

Was quite pleased to come second in 2:59:24 with Nozza off Mansion House start which is quite tricky.

The results of the 2019 Zone 1 Challenge Cup held on Friday 31st May 2019.

The start station was Mansion House.

Thee were 11 challengers in 10 teams:

10th: The Zone Ranger (Colin Gutteridge): 03:32:15 at Great Portland Street.
9th: Departing from...Palace Maisonette (Michael Churchill): 03:15:15 at Cannon Street.
8th: Have I Got Newsbury Park For You (Peter Smyth): 03:12:11 at Vauxhall
7th: Epping Fail (Andrew Chilcraft): 03:11:45 at Cannon Street
6th: Tottenham Score Loads, Liverpool Beat (Clive Burgess): 03:10:05 at Vauxhall
5th: Smiles End with Seven Sodding Blisters (Jenny Sherman): 03:04:36 at Blackfriars
4th: The Colourblind Hedgehogs want Hainault via Woodford (Ian McIntyre): 03:00:57 at Blackfriars
3rd: Due to a fault on the train, there is no service between Upminster and Romford. Good service on the rest of the line (David Edwards): 03:00:47 at Vauxhall.
2nd: [SING] Sweet Central Line (da, da, da) Zone 1 never felt so good (so good, so good) we've got our time (da, da, da) who'd thought that anyone could beat it (da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da) Sweet Central Line! [/SING] (Kevin Brown and Damian Cook): 02:59:24 at Vauxhall.
1st: Chalk n Cheese Farm (Tangy): 02:52:30 at Blackfriars.

Best team name (judged by two challengers who were at the pub but who did not partake in the challenge) went to Kev and Nozza [no surprises....].

Best score in the quiz was a tie between Michael Churchill and David's Virgins, so tie break was required. This was narrowly won by Micheal Churchill.

So the trophy returns to London (only the second time I have won it, the first occasion was back in 2013) and hopefully I can retain it next year!

Thanks for coming along, there would be no challenge without the challengers.

May I put forward a bold move here straight away as the organiser won the event perhaps a break for Mr rolf Harris lookalike for one year someone else could take the reins of organising perhaps?
