Random 15 Championship 2018/19: Round 3

Welcome to the 2018/19 Random 15 Championship. I am your host (commonly known to regulars as the BERC when I am hosting Random 15 challenges). The Random 15 challenge is just that, visit 15 randomly selected stations that feature on the Tube Map (usually within zones 1-2 and using the Underground network only). There will be certain rounds within the championship that are a variation of this such as adding an extra zone or network e.g. DLR onto the challenge. So are you ready to take on the Random 15 championship?

If anyone is not familiar with the standard rules (or scoring) for Random 15 challenges, they can be read here: http://www.explorerticket.co.uk/tubecha ... 5rules.htm (for regulars this is the same rules you are already well versed with).

Round 3 is nearly upon us, so here is what you need to know.

When: Saturday 12th January 2019, 12:30 GMT start.
Pre challenge meet up: Baker Street (meet in the Met ticket hall, public side of ticket barriers)
Post challenge meet up: The Bricklayers Arms, 31 Gresse Street W1T 1QS (off TCR, the road)
Variant: Has as become traditional for round 3, it's the National Rail round. So LU and NR stations in Zones 1 and 2 only. Yes, more National Rail but all 15 stations will be together be in one envelope this time!
Time limit: Twist round so 6 hours.

Engineering works:
--There is currently NO advertised engineering works affecting the TfL rail network.

--West Anglia: No trains between Hackney Downs/ Stratford- Bishop's Stortford via Tottenham Hale.

As this round contains National Rail stations, a standard Tube Map will not be sufficient for you to plan your challenge. You are advised to bring a copy of the London Connections map with you as this shows all rail services in Greater London. You can usually get copies at most National rail stations (may need to ask the ticket clerk if they are not on display).

Please can everyone who is coming notify me of your attendance as too many "turn up on the day" challengers can cause problems with lack of envelopes. Thanks.

Tangy.
the BERC.

Er... as usual, we're not sure if we'll be able to procure any Tube & Rail maps before the challenge, so if anyone can bring a couple of spares to donate to us that would be very appreciated.
I asked TfL customer service this morning where I can reliably get them, and they told me to contact the logistics company who distributes them and ask for a shipment...

Never change, TFL. Never change. Or actually... do change, so you're actually useful.

The new London Connections map is very much available in its usual printed leaflet form, current issue has a light blue cover.

You will have more of a chance of obtaining a copy at a National Rail station, I have seen them readily displayed in timetable racks at several larger stations. I grabbed a stack of them from VTs ticket hall at Euston in readiness for this event (so will bring a few with me to the meet up point).

I always download the PDF, crop it to zone 2 and print it on A4 paper. It ends up at an easily readable scale. I gernerally use that on R15 rounds that don't include NR, as well.

I notice that a December 2018 version is available which includes the dotted-line walkable connections like the latest pocket tube map.

Actually a better Spoons would be The Rockingham Arms at Elephant & Castle, is this OK for everyone?
