I wouldn't have bothered. No difference between last place and disqualified.
You weren't back at that point, so there was a chance I might not have come last!

And whilst it doesn't make a difference to the result, I can still say I completed it...

Good point. I didn't rush to the pub after finishing.

The rather delayed results to round 1 of the 2018/9 Random 15 Championship held on Saturday 22nd September 2018.

Just thinking that the "Starting station appearing on the list twice" could have produced an interesting start had it happened last year when an R15 started at Kennington!

Perhaps when it's the last day you can do this we specifically try to do it as a group.

I've just discovered that Embankment station used to be called Charing Cross! Had I been doing the R15 a few decades ago, my original route would have been valid without the need to go out again.... ;-)

Ahhh! But then Charing Cross wasn't called Charing Cross!

Either the Bakerloo station Trafalgar Square or the Northern station Strand would have been on the list.

Can Tangy or David post details of the Champions Twist for Round 2?

Certainly!

The Champions Twist this year brings back an old Twist format with a couple of extras thrown in (I've copied the rules from the last time this twist was used for consistency) -

Variant: The twist will be that the 15 stations will be split into two envelopes. There will be 8 LU or DLR stations in envelope one and 7 NR (including LO and TfL Rail) stations in envelope two. Stations will be in Zones 1-3.
Time limit: 6 hours

Extra rules for "two envelope" twists:
Please note that ALL stations contained in envelope one MUST be visited before progressing onto envelope two. At your 8th station (i.e. the last station to visit in envelope one) you may open envelope two as soon as the train doors open, you do NOT need to alight the train (though you may do so if you wish). In addition your 8th station must only be arrived at by train- in order for the "transfer" between envelopes one and two to take place, as described above. Your stopwatch must continue counting between envelopes one and two and stopped as usual at your 15th station.

With regard to NR stations (pending any engineering works), this round is during the football international break so visiting the likes of Drayton Park shouldn't be a problem.

Is TfL Rail included in the second envelope? (it is a separate category in the generator)

It doesn't actually matter - the GEML is shut that day and Heathrow Connect hasn't actually been reprogrammed as TfL Rail...

Current list of engineering works are:
DLR: Stratford International - Canning Town (inconveniencing nobody really)
Circle/H&C: Paddington - Hammersmith (question is - will Paddington H&C be open or is this a typo?)
TfL Rail: Liverpool Street - Shenfield
Greater Anglia: Trains via Tottenham Hale

Meaning that LU/DLR stations closed are:
Stratford International
Stratford High Street
Abbey Road
Star Lane
Royal Oak
Westbourne Park
Ladbroke Grove
Latimer Road
Wood Lane
Shepherd's Bush Market
Goldhawk Road
Hammersmith (H&C)

LO/NR stations closed:
Maryland
Forest Gate
Manor Park
Lea Bridge
Tottenham Hale (NR)
Northumberland Park

LO/NR stations restricted:
Liverpool Street (NR) (West Anglia side only)
Stratford (Overground only)

As the thinking was "light rail" in the first envelope and "heavy rail" in the second envelope then yes if the stations were open. Therefore, Heathrow Connect/TfL Rail/Crossrail/Elizabeth Line/whatever you want to call it also falls into the same category
