Random 15 Championship 2017/18: Round 4

Post by tangy »

**This event will also double up as Event 6 of Tube Olympics 2018. Therefore as well as the normal Random 15 points scoring, Tube Olympic medals will also be awarded to the podium positions.**

Hello and welcome to the 2017/18 Random 15 Championship. I am your host (commonly known to regulars as the BERC when I am hosting Random 15 challenges). The Random 15 Challenge is just that, visit 15 randomly selected stations that feature on the Tube Map and/or London Connections Map (usually within zones 1-2 and using the Underground network only). There will be certain rounds within the championship that are a variation of this such as adding an extra zone/s or network/s e.g. DLR, National Rail onto the challenge and these are known as "twist" rounds.

The rules of the Random 15 Challenge are unchanged from last season but if anyone is not familiar with these (or how the scoring works), they can be read here: http://www.explorerticket.co.uk/tubecha ... 5rules.htm

The 2017/18 season reaches round 4, so here is the vital details for you:

When: Saturday 24th February 2018 12:30 UK local time.
Pre-Challenge meet up point: Ladbroke Grove (street side of the ticket barriers)
Post challenge meet up point: The Bricklayers Arms pub, Gresse Street (off TCR, the road).
Variant: Normal round, only LU stations in zones 1 and 2.
Time limit for completing: Normal round, 4 hour time limit.

Closures affecting the challenge:
--Circle: No service Edgware Road- Aldgate (via Victoria).
--Crossrail (TfL Rail): No service throughout.
--District: No service South Ken- Ken Olympia/Wimbledon/Richmond/Ealing Broadway. Some Piccadilly line trains (Uxbridge branch) to call additionally at Ravenscourt Park, Stamford Brook, Turnham Green and Chiswick Park.
--District (Wimbleware): No service Edgware Road- Wimbledon.
--Overground & Southern (West London line) : No service Watford Junction/Willesden Junction- Clapham Junction.

Other engineering work that may affect you:
--c2c Rail: All trains to run to/from Fenchurch Street via West Ham. No service via Stratford.
--Greater Anglia (Eastern): No trains London Liverpool Street- Shenfield (and beyond).
--Greater Anglia (West): No trains via Tottenham Hale, all via Seven Sisters. Temple Mills line closed.
--South Eastern: Cannon Street closed, also no trains between London Bridge and Charlton via Greenwich.

All welcome, Please advise me if you are attending. Thank you.

May turn up to parkrun depending on how I feel/what time I finish FNC. That set of closures are going to cause some headaches...

Peckham Rye was last round's parkrun venue so I suggest we head to a different one! May I suggest Valentines?

I suggest a more central Spoons. How about The Sir John Oldcastle, near Farringdon? That will make for an easy journey to the start.
