Hello and welcome to the 2017/18 Random 15 Championship. I am your host (commonly known to regulars as the BERC when I am hosting Random 15 challenges). The Random 15 Challenge is just that, visit 15 randomly selected stations that feature on the Tube Map and/or London Connections Map (usually within zones 1-2 and using the Underground network only). There will be certain rounds within the championship that are a variation of this such as adding an extra zone/s or network/s e.g. DLR, National Rail onto the challenge and these are known as "twist" rounds.

The rules of the Random 15 Challenge are unchanged from last season but if anyone is not familiar with these (or how the scoring works), they can be read here: http://www.explorerticket.co.uk/tubecha ... 5rules.htm

The 2017/18 season is entering round 2. So here is the vital details for you:

When: Saturday 18th November 2017 12:30 UK local time.

Please be at the meet up point for 12:20 for the live draw to be conducted and the challenge to commence promptly at 12:30.

I've noticed that this falls upon the 30th anniversary of the King's Cross fire.
I'm not saying we should mark it, but if we're passing through and there is any sort of commemoration going on, I hope we'll all show the appropriate decorum.

The start station, as chosen by Neil Ansell, from the bucket that contains all the stations for this round is...

...WHITECHAPEL (meet by the current temporary entrance to the station in Court Street).

Therefore anyone coming by West Anglia Overground to Bethnal Green NR then transferring on foot to Whitechapel will need to take note of temporary entrance as it is a longer walk beyond the normal entrance on the main road.

That sounds like an interesting start!

From my point of view, easy enough to get to from Paddington (straight along the H&C).

If any of the dozen stations east of Whitechapel are drawn, it's obvious to go that way first, otherwise head west (and you have until Aldgate East to decide whether you want H&C or District!). That, plus the draw gives useful time to plot the stations and come up with a route, so not a bad start for anyone who hasn't done one before.

On the other hand, there's potential for interesting gambits involving the DLR or C2C.

It's also almost as far as you can get from Willesden Junction, which is useful if that comes up!
