R15 Analysis

I have logged every single Z1&2 LU station that has been generated for us to visit during a R15 round since the 2009/10 championship (10 in total including the current one) with some interesting results (well I find them interesting  ):-

- The most randomly generated station is Edgware Road (D&C) which has appeared 14 times in total. That is 2 ahead of the next station (Paddington (D&C)) with Waterloo, West Brompton & Vauxhall in 3rd with 11 appearances each

- West Brompton is the only station that has appeared in 4 different rounds of the same Championship (2014/15). No station has appeared more that that during a single championship

- Finchley Road FINALLY made an appearance in Round 5 of the 2018/19 Championship after nearly 10 years(!) of not showing up in a draw (was drawn out in a R15 on 11th March 2009 but this was before the Championship's current format was adopted). It is also now the only station that has appeared only once since the start of the 2009/10 season.

- Therefore, the only station which has never been randomly generated for us to visit since the start of the 2009/10 Championship is Stratford. However, this was only included into Zone 2 in January 2016 (it was drawn out in the 2012 Tube Olympics R15 but it was still just a Zone 3 station then).

- Clapham North holds the record for the longest drought, it have not been seen since the 2012/13 Championship

Having trawled through many previous posts to collect the data I am hoping this is all accurate although I'm sure someone will correct me if it is not :D Enjoy!

Superb stuff, well done :D Now does this include or exclude the rounds where we have done a live "bucket" draw?

Most of a morning collecting the data and about half an hour linking all the formula together
Going Underground wrote:Superb stuff, well done :D Now does this include or exclude the rounds where we have done a live "bucket" draw?
Includes live bucket draws as I looked at the results from each round to get the stations. Also still a valid way of randomly generating stations if not as high tech  Twist rounds also included but obviously all non-Z1&2 LU stations are not recorded

Just to note that:

- Finchley Road came out in a Random 15 on the 21st of March 2009
- Stratford was the starting station in the Tube Olympics Random 15 in 2012

I did it from the start of the 2009/10 championship which started on 11th July 2009, hence why Finchley Road hasn't been counted. Stratford wasn't in Zone 2 at the time of the challenge hence why I haven't included it.

Updated to include up to Round 3 of the 2017/18 Championship. Still waiting for Bermondsey to make its annual appearance, Aldgate to appear after a 7 year absence(!) and Finchley Road to just appear in a draw...

Updated to include Round 4 and 5. Aldgate FINALLY broke it's drought and appeared for only the 2nd time in Round 5 of this year's Championship. The wait for Finchley Road goes on...

EDIT - I have done some dry runs of the Genertor and Finchley Road DOES appear so no glitches with that. It's just an unlucky station...

Hurrah! It isn't broken / an error in the data.

Updated to end of Round 6 of 2017/18 Championship.

In terms of stats specific to the most recent Championship,
  • We visited 60 out of 135 stations in Z1&2 (44.4%)
  • Ladbroke Grove was the most visited station with 3 visits
  • We only visited 2 out of the 6 most popular stations (Edgware Road (D&C) & Paddington (D&C))

  • Paddington (D&C) moves into a clear 2nd place with 11 appearances.
  • Vauxhall joins in the large group behind it on 10 appearances.
  • Shepherd's Bush was one of the 4 'longest drought' stations until it was drawn in Round 2.

Update to Round 6 of 2018/19 Championship -
  • Our most visited stations were Stamford Brook & Vauxhall with 3 visits each during the 2018/19 Championship
  • We were not required to visit Edgware Road (D&C) in the 2018/19 Championship - the most commonly generated station
  • Finchley Road finally made its first appearance!
  • We visited 2 stations this year which we haven't had to since the 2012/13 Championship - Queensway & Kentish Town
  • Overall, we visited 81 stations and 62/135 unique stations in Zones 1&2
