Re: Random 15 Championship 2016/17: Round 4

Sorry for the delays in posting the results, I have had some hectic days at work this past week, leaving very little time for personal things.

Here follows the results for round 4 of the Random 15 Championship which was held on Saturday 25th March 2017. This was a “normal” round with just London Underground stations within zone 1 and 2 being programmed into the generator. There was very little engineering work so there was quite a spread of stations.

The stations were (in random order):
--Kennington (meet up)
--Wood Lane
--Finsbury Park
--Hammersmith H&C
--Earl’s Court
--Bow Road
--Holland Park
--Kensington Olympia
--Tufnell Park
--Hampstead
--Barbican
--Belsize Park
--Parsons Green
--Russell Square
--Blackfriars

There was a very pleasing turnout of 18 challengers who split up into 14 teams, so in reverse order:

14th: Nick Gardner- 03:56:56 at Kensington Olympia
13th: Alex Kneller and Mingke- 03:50:31 at Bow Road
12th: Andrew Baker- 03:30:27 at Bow Road
=10th: Elsie- 03:24:58 at Holland Park
=10th: Tangy and Neil Ansell- 03:24:58 at Holland Park
9th: James Ross- 03:24:21 at Bow Road
8th: Richard Standing- 03:22:12 at Parsons Green
7th: Peter Smyth- 03:19:53 at Parsons Green**
6th: Kevin Brown, Damian & Matthew Cook- 03:19:50 at Parsons Green**
5th: Richard Graham- 03:15:05 at Bow Road
=3rd: Andrew Chilcraft- 03:08:20 at Bow Road
=3rd: Clive Burgess- 03:08:20 at Bow Road
=1st: David Edwards- 02:52:31 at Parsons Green
=1st: The Orange One- 02:52:31 at Parsons Green

**There was a stewards inquiry regarding team Kev and team Peter times as they were within three seconds of each other finishing at the same station both heading southbound. It transpired they were both on the same train but in different coaches and as team Kev did not alight from the train, the two teams did not see each other on the platform. It was agreed both teams finished joint 6th.

The leaderboard now looks like this:

1st: The Orange One (43 overall points) [4 rounds attended]
2nd: David Edwards (35) [4]
3rd: Peter Smyth (33) [4]
4th: Clive Burgess (25) [3]
5th: Andrew Baker (21) [4]
=6th: Kevin Brown (18) [4]
=6th: Andrew Chilcraft (18) [4]
8th: James Ross (15) [4]
9th: Nick Gardner (13) [4]
10th: Tangy (11) [4]
=11th: Phil Parker (8) [1]
=11th: Richard Graham (8) [3]
=13th: Neil Ansell (7) [3]
=13th: Damian Cook (7) [2]
=13th: Josh Nichols-Ageros (7) [1]
=16th: Alex Kneller (5) [2]
=16th: Chris (5) [1]
=16th: Matthew Cook (5) [1]
=19th: Richard Standing (3) [2]
=19th: Sam Inman (3) [1]
21st: Michael Churchill (2) [2]
22nd: Elsie (1) [1]
23rd: Mingke: (0) [1]

As is already known, there is a shorter than usual gap to round 5. This will be held on Saturday 22nd April 2017 and will encompass zones 1, 2 AND 3!

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

A Sterling** performance from me. Made a complete hash of trying to get from Finsbury Park to Tufnell Park by bus.

Only a few good changes towards the end got me inside the 4 hour limit.

** Sterling has been performing rubbish recently.

Thanks Tangy!

As a newbie to this stuff I'm quite chuffed with being only 16 mins off 3rd place, especially as I had to look up some of the Zone 2 stations on the fly!
