R15 Twist idea - all modes

Post by RJSRdg »

One thought I had for a possible R15 twist the other day came from the realisation that with 11 Tube lines, plus DLR, Overground, Tramlink and cable car, there are 15 modes of travel on the Tube map - so a possible twist would be one station on each mode of transport - to be visited using that particular mode.

It would perhaps require a little longer than the regular 4 hours, given that the stations are likely to be more widely spread and Tramlink is outside Zones 1 & 2 (the cable car is too, but only just!).

And of course, it would need to be done before the Elizabeth Line opens!

It depends if there's a limit on Zones, as you could end up with T5, Upminster, Amersham, Enfield Town, Beckton and Epping in the sane run!

I was intending that for everything except Tramlink and the cable cars, the usual R15 rule of Zones 1 and 2 only would apply.

How would you ensure you didn't double cover a station?

I reckon you ought to switch out the Dangleway for TfL Rail (and thus keep this challenge going when Crossrail arrives on the scene).

Of course it's pretty much guaranteed you're going to Bank (on the W&C) and Stratford (for TfL Rail - Liverpool Street & Stratford) at some point... maybe make Stratford the starting station!! Then all the stations are still a secret when it opens...

Or maybe - given that Tramlink is the only line outside Zone 2, keep the dangleway in and drop Tramlink.

But yes, it would need a very special version of the R15 Generator!

Was it you that did the original one? As it wouldn't be too hard just to tweak it a bit

All you'd need to do is get the bucket out again!! That or number the stations then use a random number generator...

Christ almighty, I couldn't care less about what we do and whose idea it is, it's just a method that could work without having to add ridiculous complications to the R15 Generator!!

Personally, I'd rather have Tramlink than the cable car!

Same, as there's more variety? Is that the right word?! There's more stations to be picked (39, rather than 2)
