My Alternative Challenge Ideas

Post by Tube Geek »

Here are a few alternative challenges I've come up with

Water - All stations with things to do with water in the name (bridge, embankment, wharf etc)

Modern - Everything opened from 1969 or onwards (Victoria Line plus)

Barman - Central, W&C, Victoria, Bakerloo, any others that get it

Borders - All stations in more than one zone

London Letters - a bit like R15, but a random station beginning with L, a random station beginning with D, two random stations beginning with O, two random stations beginning with N

Red, White and Blue - interchange stations (white blob), Central, Piccadilly, Victoria, EAL

That last one is the stupidest, as you might as well do an FNC
Personal Best - 264 Stations in 19 hours 37 minutes.

If the last one is the stupidest, it follows that the others are stupid too, only less so?

A bit. Water and Borders aren't really, while R,W&B and Modern were bit a bit silly.

Historic challenges (i.e. the reverse of the Modern one) might be interesting. Allowing for the absence of Aldwych and Charing Cross Jubilee Line, Epping to Ongar not being part of the network any more and Amersham-Aylesbury and Watford-H&W no longer seeing Tube trains, it could be fun to recreate past challenges e.g. the original 1961 record or some of the highlighted challenges on the Tube Challenge website as closely as possible.

That's actually a really good idea! Maybe just the '63 one though, so there isn't loads!

There was talk a while back of doing Beck's 1933 map, I don't think it ever got done though.

In terms of Beck's 1933 - I presume you mean the 100 years ago challenge, which needs an update as it's now the end of April 2016!!
