Thames Crossing (TfL Rail Lines only)

Post by Tube Geek »

I've seen this before, but don't think anyone has set up a thread for it. The challenge is to cross the Thames using all 15 ways shown on the Tube Map (so Waterloo - Embankment then Embankment to Waterloo [or vice versa] must be done) I estimate an hour and a half, but could be way off!

Way more than an hour and a half. 3 hours is more realistic.

oh...

I suppose Woolwich Arsenal - King George V and Kew Gardens - Gunnersbury do slow it down a lot

It would take you nearly an hour and a half just to get from Gunnersbury to King George V, even without doing all the other crossings in between.

But then again the Waterloo area doesn't take long, and the Jubilee line is easy

What, and that speeds you up getting between the two extremities in order for you to make a total time of an hour and a half possible?

I think you should call it Thames Crossing (Tube Map only) instead!! The full monty for public transport only would include many of the road crossings (though not Rotherhithe Tunnel or some of the bridges near Battersea) and all the rail bridges. You would be spared the foot tunnels though. And how far would you take it? Teddington? The M25? Oxford?

A route would be Kew Gardens  Richmond (District/LO) Putney (SWT) East Putney (run) West Brompton (District) Clapham Junction (LO/Southern) Vauxhall (SWT) Green Park (Victoria) Waterloo (Jubilee) Embankment (Bakerloo) Waterloo (Northern) Bank (W&C) London Bridge (Northern) Canada Water (Jubilee) Wapping (LO) Canada Water (LO) Canary Wharf (Jubilee) Heron Quays (run) Cutty Sark (DLR) Heron Quays (DLR) Canary Wharf (run) Canning Town (Jubilee) Woolwich Arsenal (DLR).

If you want to add Dangleway, after Canning Town add  North Greenwich (Jubilee) Emirates Greenwich Peninsula (run) Emirates Royal Docks (Dangleway) West Silvertown (run) Woolwich Arsenal (DLR).

Once Crossrail comes about, you will have to add to the start: Reading  Ealing Broadway (Crossrail) Chiswick Park (District) Gunnersbury (run) Richmond (District/LO) etc.

and change the end: Canning Town  Custom House (DLR) Woolwich (Crossrail) Woolwich Arsenal (run) King George V (DLR)

or if you include Dangleway: Emirates Royal Docks  Royal Victoria (run) Custom House (DLR) Woolwich (Crossrail) Woolwich Arsenal (run) King George V (DLR).
All London buses: 23 hours 25 minutes (with Adham, David, Josh and Tangy)

But the crossing is between Gunnersbury and Kew Gardens, and Gunnersbury is before KG and Ricmond

Out of interest, how many times have you actually been to London and been on the Underground?
