Royal Challenge

Post by xcooler123 »

Just having a look at some of the alternative challenges and noticed that in the Royal Challenge it says there are 18 stations but I only counted 17? Is this because Seven Kings on TfL Rail (or Crossrail or Elizabeth Line, whatever people want to call it) is now included? Would people include EAL Royal Docks to make it 19?

If so, is the official list as below-

Barking
Barkingside
Dalston Kingsland
Emirates Royal Docks (?)
KCSP
King George V
Kingsbury
Park Royal
Prince Regent
Queen's Park
Queens Road Peckham
Queensbury
Queensway
Royal Albert
Royal Oak
Royal Victoria
Seven Kings
Victoria
Walthamstow Queen's Road

There will be more than that now, with the new sections of overground.

I reckon the only new station for the challenge since the Liverpool Street handover in May was Seven Kings! Unless you pronounce Chingford Kingford, in which case you're an idiot. I'm fairly sure the cable car does not count.

Of course, we could have Harold Wood, after a historical king - but then:

1) We'd have to include Maryland, St. James's Park, St. John's Wood, St James Street.
2) We'd be restricting to the British monarchy - what about other monarchies?
3) What about pet names (Ed-gware, Ed-monton Green, Cal-Ed-onian Road, R-Ed-bridge, Wimbl-Ed-on, Beth-nal Green)?

I already feel Victoria is stretching it, but since it's a well-connected Zone 1 station it doesn't matter that much.

Come 2019 (and to be honest 2018 if things run to time), we could have an entirely different type of Royal Challenge...

I agree that stretching to pet names and historical kings is a bit much, I just wanted to confirm which stations I have to cover. This challenge will become much more varied when the Elizabeth line opens [GRINNING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Oh no! I have a route, but it doesn't include 7 Kings! I could have a problem...
