birthday parkrun + challenge
2nd April is a Saturday... and is also when the Earth will be at the same point in it's orbit as when I was born.
A tenuous reason to do a challenge... but I was thinking of starting the day at Pymmes parkrun, followed by a challenge in the afternoon- I was thinking of something like 'most labyrinths photographed in an hour and a half' sorta challenge.
Sound good to anyone that isn't me?

I could certainly be up for some sort of challenge, and Pymmes parkrun is definitely on my To Do list.

How about the Rainbow challenge? Edmonton Green would be a convenient start point after Pymmes.

Only if Glen can make it; he should really be there for it. If he can, let's do it!
How about redoing the Royal or Posh challenges? Both have, I believe, been reset (Silver Street? Seven Kings? Manor Park?).
I'll have to check the closures.
EDIT: Only closures seem to be Marble Arch to Bethnal Green. Bethnal Green would probably be a little awkward for the Rainbow but all suggested challenges should be doable. The Zone 1, Zones 1&2, Bottle, Mouse, Religious Challenge and the Roads, Streets and Lanes Challenge would be out of the question though.

Stations like Bow Church, Hatton Cross, Temple etc... is there a definitive list?

Re: birthday parkrun + challenge
Well those three challenges seem to be picked at random!! Anti-Tube would take several days, the Zone 1 is out of the question with Chancery Lane and St. Paul's closed and the W&C isn't really a challenge anymore.A Challenge wrote:Challenges I can Find (in no perticular order): (Red = may take too long)

As for the Religious Challenge, half an attempt at a definitive list was made, but we got bogged down in arguments. We could stick with Glen's original list though.tractakid wrote:Stations like Bow Church, Hatton Cross, Temple etc... is there a definitive list?

Yep, I can do it! I'd be all for a Raindow challenge. Only new stations to add with the extension to the LO network is Edmonton Green, Silver Street and White Hart Lane. The Orange One wrote:Only if Glen can make it; he should really be there for it. If he can, let's do it!

Did a quick run through and got 5 hours 51 minutes. Not sure whether that's the kind of length that tractakid is looking for though.

Re: birthday parkrun + challenge
I was going for a time-limited option, as I'm hoping my family will be down afterwards for the evening. I think the Rainbow challenge is one of the challenges I was most looking forward to, so plan away for it another day!

Re: birthday parkrun + challenge
Well, you could go for "most labyrinths photographed in an hour and a half" as you suggested, I guess. Would there be a minimum distance from the labyrinth (for example, if you're on a train passing eastbound through Mansion House would you be allowed to photograph the labyrinth, which is on the westbound platform, through the window of the train)?
Some other options (most of which I have invented, some of which were previously proposed):
- Most stations in 1 hour (à la Nordic Combined)?
- Most stations in 2 hours (strategy might be a bit different here)?
- 4 hours All Modes Challenge; knew I'd thought of something possible?
- Most gatelines passed through in 2 hours (though might be a little tiring)?
- Greatest displacement in 90 minutes from Edmonton Green (remaining within reach of a Zones 1-9 travelcard so as to stop people running out of London, but allow a Cheshunt gambit so all stations within Zones 1-9 + all points on bus routes)? This was inspired by Jailbreak as done by UK universities; something I'd like to try without the money restraints.
- Most labyrinths photographed in an hour and a half (as a team effort - returning to the Labyrinth theme)?
- 30 tube stations generated by the A2 generator from Zones 1 and 2, then we as a group have to get photos of all the labyrinths from those stations as fast as possible?
- Scrabble Challenge, perhaps extend to an hour and a half
- Fix a route around Zone 1 (of course not including Chancery Lane or St Paul's), play Snake style (challengers attempt to catch up with each other)? Not timed, but would likely be quite a short challenge as the Zone 1 itself is around 3 hours.
