Random 15 Championship 2015/16: Round 2
Welcome to the 2015/16 Random 15 Championship. I am your host (commonly known to regulars as the BERC when I am hosting Random 15 challenges). The Random 15 challenge is just that, visit 15 randomly selected stations that feature on the Tube Map and/or London Connections Map (usually within zones 1-2 and using the Underground network only). There will be certain rounds within the championship that are a variation of this such as adding an extra zone/s or network/s e.g. DLR, National Rail onto the challenge and these are known as "twist" rounds.
If anyone is not familiar with the standard rules (or scoring) for Random 15 challenges, they can be read here: http://www.explorerticket.co.uk/tubecha ... 5rules.htm (for regulars the rules are the same as last year).
So let us announce the details for round 2.
When: Saturday 14th November at 12:30 GMT
Pre challenge meet up point: Camden Town Station (outside Camden High Street entrance)
Post challenge meet up: The Bricklayers Arms, Gresse Street (off TCR, the road).
The challenge: Round 2 of the Random 15 Championship is a "normal" round i.e. visit 15 randomly generated stations on the LU network only within zones 1 and 2. However this round will feature a live draw. This will mean there will be no envelopes to rip open, instead the challengers present will pick stations in turn out of a bucket. Please be at Camden Town by 12:15 for live draw to take place to ensure the challenge starts promptly at 12:30.
Closures affecting the challenge:
There is no engineering works directly affecting the Random 15 challenge, all LU lines through zones 1 and 2 are open. However the following may affect connections and/or your route between lines.
Piccadilly: Acton Town - Uxbridge (Met unaffected).
GOBLIN: Closed throughout.
DLR: West Ham- Woolwich Arsenal.
South Eastern: Trains to/from Charing X do NOT call London Bridge.
Thameslink: No trains between Blackfriars and London Bridge.
Southern: Reduced suburban service to/from Victoria (some trains terminate Clapham Junction).
Tottenham Court Road: Central Line NOT stopping (Northern line stopping as normal).
Tufnell Park: Station closed (pass through allowed).
Those engineering works listed are only the closures that might affect the challenge, there are further works (on National Rail) going on in other areas. Please check if travelling from further afield.
Hope to see you there.
Signed: Tangy

Please note access TO the Northern Line is only via spiral staircase at Camden Town. This makes it extremely crowded - it's annoying.
I can't see those closures having much effect, except decreasing the Piccadilly Line frequency a little (and obviously removing interchange at TCR, except we've been dealing with that for months). Oh, and I suppose journeys between the top of the Piccadilly Line and the top of the High Barnet branch of the Northern are a little harder than usual.

I think we should pick a different starting station. I know how busy Camden Town station gets at weekends and having a dozen of us all trying to run down the spiral staircase is a recipe for chaos. Particularly as it is a live draw as well, there isn't really anywhere we can do the draw without getting in peoples way.

As per the Random 15 rules, the live draw element will be done whilst still outside on the street (as if we had the envelopes in operation) on the street side of the ticket barriers.

Re: Random 15 Championship 2015/16: Round 2
Trains from Camden Road leave eastbound at 06, 16, 26, 36, 46, 56 minutes past the hour, and westbound at 05, 14, 25, 35, 45, 55 minutes past the hour.
This is for anyone who doesn't fancy the spiral staircase. Otherwise, there may have to be a Temporary Speed Restriction (e.g. forced to walk at a tourist's walking speed until the platforms are reached) on challengers at the start of the challenge.
The live draw should definitely be done outside the station; perhaps a small distance to the north near the 134 etc. bus stop?

I'm afraid to say my physio has told me not to run until further notice owing to my tendonitis and stairs aren't great for me right now. So I think it's unlikely I'll be doing this month's R15

Once the exhibition has finished, just use the TARDIS to travel back to midday and do the R15. Simple!

Brockwell Park was namedropped on Doctor Who last weekend (even though the park actually shown in the episode wasn't actually Brockwell Park). So watch out for Zygons...
