Alternative Challenge - 5th July

Post by greatkingrat »

Seeing as there is no engineering work on this date, does anyone fancy doing some sort of challenge on that day?

I was thinking of the SLAM (South London All Modes), but am open to suggestions if others prefer something else.

Here's a suggestion: Random 15 All Stations.

That's 15 stations from Zones 1-9 + B, G, S, W (although if you want, zones B, G, S, W and Stratford International NR can be removed so it can be done on a Z1-9 Off-Peak, and you'd have to remove closed stations like Drayton Park and Sudbury and Harrow Road) with LU, LO, DLR, NR and Tramlink.

You'd probably have to start really early though...
All London buses: 23 hours 25 minutes (with Adham, David, Josh and Tangy)
Holds some alternative challenge records. Not sure which ones.

I think I might do Pymmes parkrun that day (MK is cancelled) but need to be back in MK for 1300 for a work commitment.happy to meet anyone/run with anyone while I am in London.

Actually, it seems I'm wrong about that - it's B, C, G and W. Instead of adding these stations to existing Zones 7, 8 and 9, they gave them their own zones.

Zone W has one station only - Watford Junction.
Zone G has four stations: Ockendon, Chafford Hundred, Purfleet and Grays.
Zone B has two stations: Brentwood and Broxbourne.
Zone C has one station - Shenfield.

The Alphabet is definitely breakable!

I join the community and see several easily breakable world records, what do you expect me to do? Two of them are still quite weak.

I think go with Andi's idea and attempt the Alphabet, which has sort of been forgotten.

A Random 15 All Stations would need more notice as it would probably be 12 hours long. It would also be better to attempt it on a weekday as Angel Road, Drayton Park, Essex Road, Sudbury and Harrow Road and Sudbury Hill Harrow would be impossible on Saturdays, not to mention all the NR engineering work that could happen.

It's a pity, because the next Saturday without any engineering work on TfL services is the 11th of October. I'd like to make that a second run of the "Banned Stations" Random 15.

The problem with the Alphabet is that Bond Street Jubilee will be closed by then which will make it harder to break the record.

Most people go from Kilburn to Lancaster Gate during the challenge.

Perhaps the Points of the Compass (currently held by John Stark)?

i believe peter may be talking of jub up to dollis hill which is probably the only d useful i dont use that starting sequence so not necessary for bond st is passed on central not that it matters.
