Tube Olympics: Event 5- Tramlink 18th February 2014

Post by tangy »

Sorry for the lateness of this post.

Event 5 of Tube Olympics 2014 is the Croydon Tramlink challenge. The aim is simple: to visit all the stations on the Croydon Tramlink system.

You may start at any Tramlink station you desire between 1730 and 1830. Your time will start when the tram doors are firmly closed ready for departure.

Post challenge meet up will be at The Green Dragon, 58-60 High Street, Central Croydon.

Who will be challenging in this event?

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

Not me, I am afraid. I'd have loved to come but will stay home for my Dad's birthday tomorrow.

Event 5 of Tube Olympics 2014 and another World Record has been broken! This was a three horse race as the organiser (i.e. myself) missed the 18:30 start deadline by 10 minutes...

Therefore the results are as follows:

Bronze: Kevin Brown 02:06:00 (Harrington Road)
Silver: Andi James 01:47:13 (New Addington)
Gold: Peter Smyth 01:40:23 (New Addington) NEW OLYMPIC & WORLD RECORD

As an aside it took less time for Peter to complete the Tramlink than it did for me to get back home from East Croydon via London Bridge...

Next (and final) event for Tube Olympics 2014 is the grand daddy of them all, the FNC. Taking place on Friday 21st February 2014. Please await further announcements.

I guess he ran from Elmers End to Birkbeck, intending to finish at Beckenham Junction, and then realised he hadn't done Harrington Road.
