But what about, say I was going from New Cross to London Bridge and I start my timer at London Bridge. Is that allowed?
If this is the beginning of the challenge, timer would be started on doors closing at NWX.
They are silly rules in my opinion. No idea how I'm going to get a sub 4hr 30 route then...

If some of these NR trains wait outside the station for 10 minutes, I will be very cross. Precedent for this has been set in my first R15, when I was 20 minutes down and about 10 of those had been spent on a SWT train between Vauxhall and Waterloo.

In fact, I will be so cross that I shall have the anger of royalty, so I shall be King's Cross. And my rage will be so terrible, it will burn you, so I shall also be Charing Cross. I shall not be Waltham Cross though

It's the consistent way to do things. Challenge starts with doors closing and end with doors opening. Always.

As for a sub-whatever route, plan better :P

I constantly amend my routes but only with marginal differences each time

How about the Nordic Combined? Not quite "Always", is it?

Nordic combined is a substantially different format. It is scored in points, not time. the time is a time limit which expires no matter where you are.

I can't remember, did we agree upon a fixed starting station?

Not for this challenge. Start wherever you like, though I recommend starting east of Dawlish :)

Not necessarily. I've got about 4.5hrs with a route that involves no running at all

Mine has 3 significant runs. I do not believe you can have a route without running, unless you are pulling off a Fenchurch Street doubleback. Or starting or ending there.

EDIT: Unless, of course, you walk!

I have at least 3 runs I have never done before and 1 that I have only done once so is a bit vague and 1 that I know well :!:
Not sure I will be able to do any prior research
