Post by Going Underground »

There are several stations on the tube map that reflect places in their name that can be located outside of the network

For example Amersham Station is in Amersham, Bucks so would not be included

What's the precise criteria required for a station to be on the list?

SURREY Quays.

CALEDONIAN Road? If so, then CALEDONIAN Road and Barnsbury as well.

I could put forward a case for Kensington OLYMPIA as well.

Great Portland Street to Stratford International. That sounds like a chance to use a mode of transport that has never been used before... I can see quite a nice route already.

If you are allowing Stratford, because there is somewhere else of the same name, then there are lots of other examples. For example, there is a Redbridge near Southampton and a Woodford near Manchester.

There must be a Town/City/County/State/Country elsewhere in the world....

Thanks Nigel I thought there might well be few others that I wouldn't know straight off...

Well, that gives you everywhere on this map for starters!

I'd guess you'd be hard-pressed to find a station that doesn't share at least part of its name with a settlement somewhere else in the English-speaking world. Many place-names in our former colonies are derived from English ones.
