Think I will get the 11:13 from MKC Its cheaper to split the ticket at Bletchley, what's the best way to go about purchasing tickets like this? Will I be able to buy the travelcard from Bletchley at Milton Keynes Central? Can I buy it in advance and print it there? Or will I need to get an earlier train to Bletchley and buy it there? I don't imagine NR will make it easy to split tickets.

Is it cheaper? It looks like a Milton Keynes and a Bletchley travelcard both cost the same, £20.00.
In general, you should be able to buy a ticket from Bletchley at Milton Keynes, although it may be quicker to order the ticket online and pick it up from the machines. You would also have to make sure you caught a train that stopped at Bletchley.

I want to get the Southern service directly to Olympia, which is a £27 travelcard. From Bletchley it is a £20 travelcard, and as the return journey MKC to BLY is £3.60 it is cheaper to split it. I know it is cheaper to go via Euston, but I want to try the direct service because i'm sad.

Pete, the £20 travelcard from Milton Keynes is only valid for virgin services, the £27 is for any permitted, so it is best to split at Bletchley!!
First and so far only female solo record holder!!

That's not strictly true Sam, you can get a £20 travelcard to use either Virgin OR London Midland (I presume not Southern...), mixing requires the £27 ticket.

I suppose the cheapest way would be to get a LM service from Milton Keynes to Harrow & Wealdstone and then change onto the Southern service there as you can use any TOC within the travelcard area.

None of the LM trains from Milton Keynes stop at Harrow and Wealdstone, go I'd need to change at Watford Junction too. haha. I think i'll just split the ticket, since discovering it I've always wanted to catch a Southern from MK.

I FINALLY invested in a young person's railcard, so I start to get cheaper fares now! I got a 3 year card, so I have a great excuse to continue challenging for the next 3 years. It arrived today, so tomorrow's tickets will be the first ones I buy.
