Cannon Street Run VI, Thurs 29th September
Avast Ye Swabs and Shiver me Timbers
Bosun Brown here with details for ye scurvy land lubber dogs for the annual hoisting of the Jolly Roger to sail the choppy waters of the London Underground....
We are going to make this years Cannon Street run "The game of 2 halves"
You must depart from Cannon Street on the first train in your chosen direction after 1845hrs and the idea is to visit as many unique Tube stations as possible. You will score 1 point for every station and 2 points for an interchange. An interchange is deemed successful if the doors have closed, you do not have to arrive at the next station. So on the example of switching from Bakerloo to Northern at Charing Cross if your train departs within the 45 minute window you will score 1 for the visit plus 2 for the interchange = 3 points. If you were to leave the system at Warren Street and Run to Euston Square again if your doors closed before the 45 minutes had elapsed you would score 1 for each station + 2 for the interchange = 4 points. These must be actual interchanges, no additional points would be given for switching from the District and Circle lines just for the sake of it.
You need to keep your good eye on the watch (not the one with the patch on ) as when the 1st half has elasped you then have a 15 minute "half time" period to grab refreshments and get to your desired starting point for the second half. You are allowed to visit and interchange at stations that were in play in the first half, but points will not be awarded. You will only score again for unique stations visited.
Meet up for "ships biscuits" will be at Earls Court McD's or KFC
Please see last post on thread for attendance list and food preference
Original post below........
This time of year is fast approaching again and "Talk like a Pirate" day is 19th September (I cant make that particular day anyway)
We need to decide what challenge to do in 2011, previous Cannon Street runs have been;
2006 (Z1)
2007 (Bottle)
2008 (R15)
2009 (Mouse)
2010 (All Lines)
So suggestions are welcome and I will kick off with one; Roads, Streets, Lanes (see link)
http://www.tubeforum.co.uk/forum/index. ... =viewtopic
And we now have Wood Lane to add to these... And TCR MUST be visited on Central Line

Re: Cannon Street Run VI
Perhaps we could try a Nordic Combined, with the starting station as Cannon Street, followed by the Pub Quiz at a suitable venue?
One day I shall return!

Re: Cannon Street Run VI
How about the idea that came up after the Nordic Combined last year:
Most stations in 90 minutes but with a 15 minute break in the middle for traveling to a different part of the network (or toilet/eating etc.)

Avast Midshipman Al
I would Say as per GWR that Bank / Monument are 2 separate stations so a successful interchange should yield 4 points....
Blackfriars can be classed as a "pass through" and 1 point shall be awarded for any sailings through the shark infested waters....

Re: Cannon Street Run VI, Weds 28th OR Thurs 29th September
There should be a 'doesn't matter' option
EDIT: although, having just read it again, I see it's for Wednesday or Thursday, not Thursday or Friday, so I actually have voted.
