Re: DLR challenge - 10th September 2011
ARGH! Why is everything scheduled for the 10th or 17th September?!? I have so many clashes for these two weekends its getting me into a real pickle...
However, if it is a suitable midday-ish start I can get a Voyager back down from Chester or Liverpool after doing a NR train that only runs once a week (on the last day it will operate until next May)!! That is after I land back in Holyhead on an overnight boat from Dublin...
The DLR challenge record will return where it belongs- in east London!

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!
Tangy.

I also held the DLR record once, and I have got no world records since then, so there's another omen for you... if you believe in such silly things as omens.

Re: DLR challenge - 10th September 2011
My attempt started at Shadwell and ended at Lewisham
The attempt was nearly over before it started, as in eagerness to get my ticket out of my pocket at Shadwell meant it flew out of my hand, hit the train and bounced onto the platform. Thank goodness it didn't land on the tracks!
As with all attempts I had good and bad moments.
The good
- Changing at Woolwich Arsenal in less than 30 seconds
- Only waiting 2 minutes at both Tower Hill/Gateway and Bank/Monument even though I got lost between Tower Hill and Gateway
- Somehow making up 10 minutes somewhere (No idea where!)
The Bad
- Waiting 6 minutes at Stratford International, because I didn't want to risk a run to Stratford. I assume there will be way through the shopping centre once its open. Tfl route planer says there is?
- Losing time on the bus, a route involving a train I think would be a better idea
- Not getting a direct train from Beckton
Video of me stopping the stopwatch at Lewisham at 2h:16mins:34sec

In conclusion, a quicker time is defiantly possible. Although, I finished a train ahead of my schedule and everything left according to timetable, I have a feeling that my route is not the quickest.
Prove me right people!

It may simply have been that you added 10 minutes into your schedule that didn't need to be there. The Raven wrote:- Somehow making up 10 minutes somewhere (No idea where!)

Re: DLR challenge - 10th September 2011
I think you probably gained the time at Woolwich Arsenal. According to the timetable there is a minus 1 minute connection which it sounds like you made.
Soon to be yet another forum train driver
