Cannon Street Run V - 20th October - All Lines Challenge

Post by Soup Dragon »

This year the Cannon Street Run will take place on Wednesday 20th October, starting at Cannon Street station at 18:00.

There will be a 1:30 hour window for you to make your attempt, therefore for any attempt to be eligible you need to start your watch before 19:30. If you wish to abort an attempt and start again from Cannon Street this is fine. If you have completed an attempt and wish to start a second attempt before 19:30 this is also fine. All attempts must start from Cannon Street by rail services, starting your watch when doors close on your first train departing from Cannon Street (running to Bank and starting your watch there is not allowed).

We will meet after at The Rising Sun, Cloth Fair (near Barbican) for the results and a few rounds of TCDL Darts (counting toward the PDC league table).

Previous Cannon Street Run - Winners
2006 (Z1) Rick Brackenbury 2:59:16
2007 (Bottle) Antony & Jamie Brown 2:02:00
2008 (R15) Martin Hazel 3:01:24
2009 (Mouse) Martin Hazel 1:36:27
2010 (All Lines) Kevin Brown 45:07

How easy is it to tell apart H&C and Circle trains going to Hammersmith from stations between Liverpool St & Edgware Road?

I think we had this discussion when the "teapot" line was first introduced. I think the conclusion was that, since there is no way to distinguish, you just have to get on two different trains like this (if you intend to cover both H&C and Circle lines in that bit)

In regards to the one hour window, the rational behind this is that the All-Lines is one of the most tiring challenges, especially after a whole day in the office.
Therefore by limiting the start of the attempt to a one hour window there is time to complete the challenge and have a decent pub meeting afterwards.
As long as you have started your attempt before 19:00 then you can take as long as you like!

The venue after should be The Rising Sun, near Barbican, this will be confirmed shortly.

Can we start a list of entrants for the challenge:

Due to poplular demand I've extended the window for attempts to 90 minutes from 1800 to 1930. you can arrive at Cannon Street anytime within this window to start your attempt. Meeting afterwards is at the Rising Sun, Cloth Fair, Smithfiled

You obviously don't handle the large crowds at the BDO events ;)

The 45:07 was my second attempt as I had 2 routes... The 1st route had an un-planned Bakerloo line double back at Lambeth North  :? and came in at 54:59

My second run was seriously hard work as all the changes were very quick not giving much recovery time. the longest wait being 1 min for a Central Line train which of course was "Woodford via Hainault"
This also included the nasty run from Monument to W & C at Bank and also Warren Street (up the 2 flights of escalators) to run  Euston Sq and for once I didn't get lost in the "Euston Triangle" :D

Who would have thought you could get so hot 'n' sweaty on such a cold night......

Soup Dragon found his form at long last on the darts board including a singles win and theer was some very "slick" finishing all round.... :D

I reckon it's more to do with venues. The last two BDO events I attened were at the Anchor Tap and the Angel in the Fields. I hate both of these venues, whereas I quite like the Rising Sun.... apart from the "vomit on the stairs" incident.
