Getting home challenge !
Me and 4 mates are going to wembley wensday night and with planned tube stikes it looks like it may be hard to get home, so i was wondering as you lot seem to know a thing or two about public transport whats the best way to get home to Worthing station ?? Any route that does not include the london undeground ?? Bearing in mind things like overground will be very busy !

Re: Getting home challenge !
I assume you mean Worthing, West Sussex, and that you would prefer to travel from Victoria.
Your best best is to walk into Wembley and get the 18 bus to Euston and then the 73 bus to Victoria. There is another bus route but it involves changing in Cricklewood and you'll probably be stabbed.

In that case it's the 18 and the 73 - no brainer. The 18 is a bendy bus route.

If the Worthing train calls at Clapham Junction, you could take the no. 18 to Willesden Junction instead and get on the Overground. I'm not sure how busy the West London Line would be. Will the Watford DC line be running? If so, it is quite possible that a lot of people might use Willesden Junction as an interchange, and what I have suggested should be ignored.

There are a few buses that get you close, like the no. 16 to Cricklewood, the no. 36 to Queen's Park or the no. 52 to Willesden, but they will leave you miles away from the ground - certainly not walking distance unless you have an hour or two spare. In light of what others have said here, I think tubeguru's route is the best - get to Euston and take the no. 18.

TBH, I'd suggest not going and getting a refund of the tickets. Unless you leave half an hour before the end, any bus running anywhere near Wembley will be completely packed and the roads will probably be gridlocked so they won't get anywhere anyway.

Re: Getting home challenge !
Actually, if you can get yourselves to Brighton, National Express is running a bus service to Wembley stadium from Pool Valley coach station (I have no idea where that is):
Outbound d. 15:15 a.17:30
Return d. 22:30 a. 00:45
I guess this is probably the easiest route, although perhaps not the most pleasant. You should probably book your tickets online soon if you want to make use of it.

Re: Getting home challenge !
TfL have produced a press release on travelling there tonight: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/n ... 11995.aspx
They recommend not using buses/the road, but are saying they're trying to keep the Jubilee line open. They also seem to have the Wembly Park - Baker St section of the Met open today - the only bit of it!
The Victoria line between Victoria and Seven Sisters is open at the moment, but no idea if it'll stay that way later...

Re: Getting home challenge !
Well I've heard from Ping Pon and can confirm that he has made it to Wembley via the JUB. For the return he is going to try the same but I still reckon with patchy service he would be better getting the 18 bus to Wills Jct and then to Clapham Jct. He has until 00:11 to get back to Clapham for the last train to Worthing.
One day I shall return!
