Doing my usual scouting round Central London pubs... still TBA (Friday evenings is always a difficult one).

This is a Central line train to "Woodford via Hainault"- sadly, not no more!

Right, the social is in the diary for myself and Guy Barry - assuming a pub can be found! I'll probably try and come to the draw and first station too (like last year).

The pub:

Do we want to stick to one of our regular pubs in Zone 1 (of which none will reserve a Friday night- busiest night, obviously). So would be a free for all with Joe public thus no guarantee of all of us being grouped together.

Or would you be willing to come to a pub in Leyton (just 10 minutes from Walthamstow Central) where I could reserve the function room- the manager is phoning me back tomorrow to arrange. For those who attended the 2014 Tube Olympics Biathlon, it is the same pub as we used for the final of that event.

Your thoughts please.

Speaking entirely for myself, I'd rather go somewhere central, since I have to leave Victoria at 8pm. However I appreciate that I'm not the most important person attending.

I vote for the pub in Leyton, its very easy to get to and only 30 mins from Central London allowing walk / Viccie line and it's awesome with darts and bar billiards :D

Happy to go to Leyton. Especially if we can book room and dartboard.

Thankyou for your responses, there is a majority in favour of the pub in Leyton therefore that is where we are going. Booking has been confirmed.

So, once you have completed your Zone 1 attempt please head to William IV, 816 High Road Leyton, E10 6AE. We will be in the rear section, walk past the main bar and through the doorway (area with bar billiards table in). Food is served until 2100, but please do not overwhelm the chef by ordering all at once (pub request). Dartboard is in main bar area.

The nearest stations are Walthamstow Central and Leyton Midland Road, both a short (about 5 minute) bus ride away, numerous buses from either station. Bus routes 69 or 97 are the best routes to get to the pub (bus stop C at Walthamstow Central, opposite the entrance if coming from Midland Road station). The pub is virtually opposite Leyton Bakers Arms branch of Tesco, full directions will be provided with your entry card at the meet up point if required.

I know the pub is in zone 3, but it is only 30 minutes to get back to KX or Liverpool St via Walthamstow Central, so isn't too much of a diversion.

My project supervisor has just scheduled a meeting from 11 to 12. I'll have to miss the draw; can someone send me the starting station so I can meet you all there?
